“Because you have a right to a Secretary of Defense whose views are better aligned with yours on these and other subjects, I believe it is right for me to step down from my position,” Mattis said in his resignation letter, released by the Pentagon.

We're not the worlds police, and we do a good job of f***ing things up where ever we go so if that means Mattis doesnt agree with bringing the boys home, acceptable losses.

    Damn.

Who’s the next general that Obama fired that can take the job?

Maybe Trump can hire some old 11B E-7 and give the enlisted a chance?

Germans and French military were quite unhappy with our decision not to substitute their own responsibilities and us bringing boys home from Syria was the last drop.

Not really. We need to get out of stans!
    Not this:
    Lindsey Graham 37m37 minutes ago
I have just returned from Afghanistan and can say – without hesitation – ISIS-K remains a direct threat to our homeland and they would dramatically benefit from a reduced American troop presence.
    ----------
This is a complete BS. We can't have our troops dying in stans just because we do not want to recognize another failure.
    We need troops home!

So we f*** the Kurds and lose control of the oil rigs that we "acquired" in the fog of war. Where's our profit in this?

Wanna know what is going on.......follow the money always follow the money. Most of the time we can't do that because where the money is and where it is going to be is classified.

If you follow the money it appears to lead you back to our reps.
Do we get much oil from syria or the stans.
If we play follow the money "war" is big money. Pretty much why we/US has not gone much more than a decade with out being involved in some sort of conflict?

The Russian contractors that we killed came at us to capture the oil rigs. So we absolutely "acquired" them.

Support our troops by bringing them home. If they want to fight let them defend the Southern border.

Final nail in the coffin for Trump. Losing Mattis means he has no one with half a brain left in his cabinet.

Too bad the US won't stand with the Kurds in helping them create their own country. Instead they just strung them along while it was convenient without stepping on too many Turkish toes.

They had a chance. Chuck Hagel was an 11-series sergeant with two Purple Hearts.

I thought the whole battle over Syria was whether Russia or the US gets to put a pipeline through there. It is about $$$ and controlling $$$.

In less than 2 years, the exit from Trump's Cabinet eliminates all credibility for actual leadership. Trump can only do harm to those who believe in Liberty at this point, as evidenced by the bump stock ban.

Republicans would be well served to mount a campaign to oust him in the primary and be seen as heroes by all. They just need an inspiring platform, other than "not Trump".

The replacement would be some GOPe stooge like Jeff Flake or Tom Coburn whom would be perfectly happy to continue to sell the country out and prostrate to every loony cause the left falls in love with.

Trump is the imperfect vessel for the segment of the population that wants the country to survive. It's not like there are better choices out there. Ted Cruz and Scott Walker just don't have the fortitude on a national stage.
