Screwdriver vs gun, who will win?

no good deed goes unpunished.....

"Some commenters on the FOX5 Facebook page commented on the citizens stepping in and firing their weapons.

Henderson criminal defense attorney Brian Vasek said this could be submitted to the district attorney
for screening, adding in general, there will always be a question of whether someone engaged in lawful use of force."

If onlookers did come to the aid of the cop,
and the DA does end up hassling them,
then the DA may find that their personal 911 calls
undergo "screening" by Metro PD
before responding to the plea for help.

Kim du Toit had this story on his blog this morning. I dug around a bit and found a local news article on the story:

LiveLeak has a short video which is from a police briefing, and includes surveillance video of both the classroom incident that started things off, and the shooting itself:

So the guy walked into a gun range, tried to steal a handgun from the bag of a man taking a concealed-carry course, was escorted outside by four range instructors, attacked a police officer, and was promptly shot dead. Could there be a better illustration of "when you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes"? This guy definitely deserves a Darwin Award. Idiocy of the highest caliber.

The video of the actual shooting is interesting in another way, I thought. I don't know anything about concealed carry or tactical situations except what I've heard and read. But it looks to me like these are some very well trained people.

Lost his life stealing a handgun lol.cheapest gun i paid for is a used 200 dollars 9mm Why can he just buy a used gun.
The guy had a criminal record: attempted grand larceny of a firearm. That's a felony in Nevada, near as I can tell. I suppose he could have gotten one on the street, but is it likely that somebody stupid enough to try robbing a gun range would know any street dealers? Or have the money to pay street prices for it?

Officer two standing back and getting out of reach fast could have ended with officer ones death. But easy to say when it’s not you I guess

That guy If he had survived.. It was only a matter of time before he got himself or somebody else killed..

Why won’t you just break into a squad car or a gun store while there’s no one around?Or even someones home for that matter.

He got hit 14 times so I guess these guys weren’t awful shots

Officer 2 has a gun. Her reaction should have been to shoot the guy, not seek safety for herself. She was already engaged in the altercation and backed away without regard for her sister officers safety. No one on her department will want to partner with her after this.
