I picked up a beautiful sporterized Schmidt-Rubin Model 1889 over the weekend.
I read that these can't shoot the GP11 ammo because they're not designed to withstand the pressure from that round.
I've also read that some were rechambered for .30-30 (mine isn't), and I've also seen websites where the 1889's chambering is called out as 7.5x53 as opposed to 7.5x55.
I have a couple of questions:
WTF is the chambering for this rifle?
If it is chambered for the 7.5x55, would it be safe to shoot some rounds loaded using .30-30 data?
