Safe gun handling?????

Oh. My.

I have to wonder about the sanity of the camerman... or how much he trusted his friend. Well... OK, he trusted the idiot with the gun with his life - literally!!

Wow.

a closer look at the video shows the reflection of a button on the camera user, I have zoomed the image and here is what it says:

Ross, I think this was the same guy that shot at your camera last weekend.

Sneaky mall ninja bastard... we never even saw him.

Gah! I knew it!

Len, how could you let him sneak up on you like that?

also just to add a small thing to this all. He also turned on his laser at the camera. Another thing not to do at another person. I have a black spot in one of my eyes, and I suspect it was when some assclown decided to start lasing the band durring a halftime show.

Of course I'll take a laser in the eye over a .223 in the gut anyday, but let's just say if I read about this dickhead getting hit with a car, I won't loose any sleep.

Arrrrr

crak,

I have no idea who he was or whether or not he was really with our group (let's hope not). He's standing 2 positions away from me. The person beside me is aiming what looks like an M1 in a totally different direction.

I don't know who he was either, Len, and I'm really not sure if he was part of the group...I think he may have just been with someone from the group. All I know is that I was standing right next to the moron when he fired the round, and I was one of those people who had taken off my ear protection before the picture. My ears rang for a few, but I survived. [wink]

That's me with the M1A -- I was trying to get its profile in the picture, didn't come out too well though. But, my finger was off the trigger![smile]

So who's bright idea resulted in that NES photo? You guys should have thought that one through.

Ross came up with the idea as a spur-of-the-minute thing. Most of us were packed up, so a lot of the handguns you see were probably loaded (mine certainly was cocked and locked). He did say that he had a tripod and the camera had a 10 second delay, not to draw and aim until he was clear of that area and he smartly ran like hell back to the firing line to both be safe and get into the picture.

Those of us that actually know and practice proper gun safety you will note kept their trigger finger OUT Of the trigger guards! If you look at my 1911, my trigger finger tip is pointing directly at the camera (beside the frame).

In a case like this when staging something with a bunch of people I haven't shot with before (and thus unable to gauge their "range safety"), I wouldn't have participated in this picture without eyes and ears!

Yes, that guy is a total idiot and when Ross screamed at him for shooting at the camera, his only retort was "I aimed above the camera"! He just "didn't get it" and shouldn't be trusted with anything more than a sharp pencil, and then only under supervision!

I'm glad that I didn't think of doing this! I had a brand new camera with me and a tripod too (same as Ross' I believe). I'm sure this guy wouldn't have paid to replace Ross' camera if he hit it either! [And ricochets can destroy the camera just like a direct hit would!]

The shooter was MigMojo (John) and the photo was my bright idea, Darius. I specifically brought a tripod for that purchase (didn't want someone to start bitching about unsafe gun handling, and no offense, but I don't trust ANYONE to point a gun at me!)

And Len, as my camera is about 3-4 years old (2 megapixels), I really hope you didn't just buy a new one! Or were you referring to the tripod? (mine was on sale somewhere for about $10 or $15...

Sorry Brother but you lost me here.

I recently bought a Konica-Minolta Dimage Z6 (6 megapixels) since I ran into a bargain and it has the features that I frequently need (you can fix speed and make it change aperture). I also bought one of those collapsible tripods 2 years ago for a bargain price up on the VT/NH border.

Meanwhile due to the weather and ease of carry (side cargo pocket) I only used my old Kodak DC215 (it made the trip to Israel with me in 2000), which takes dynamite pictures for a ~1.3 megapixel (IIRC) camera.
