S&W Serial number ??

Friend of mine "inherited" a S&W 15-3 and is looking for year of manufacture. My Google-fu fails me and I'm coming up with nothing.

Can anyone get me the year of manufacture for S/N 1K80xxx? Thanks in advance.

According to Supica and Nahas' third edition of the Standard Catalog of S&W, its 1971.
