Anyone happen to have one of these little pistols? I came across one that has no safety on it. Kind of tiny in my hand, but a little .40 in the pocket isn't a bad thing. I'm surprised it's possible to buy a handgun without a safety here in MA. Doesn't this frighten the sheep more than my 1911?

The MA complaint M&P40c has three safeties - the trigger, firing pin block, and mag safety. It simply doesn't have the big lever safety that makes idiots feel safe.

Well I did buy it. My wife said "I like that one, it's pretty". So do you folks think I did alright? I think the only reason I don't like it very much is because I was raised with 1911's

I have a 40c and have puts 1000+ rounds through it. It's run flawlessly, though I did install the Apex kit before putting a single shot through it. The MA trigger is bad.

The 40c is a great little gun.

Excellent! Thank you O/U, I figured .40 was a good call, as I don't usually pay for ammo in that flavor. Now I'm just going to wait on standish, or get fed up and join somewhere else close.

Only you can decide if it prints worse. A 1911 is slimmer, so chances are you'll print more with the M&P if you don't dress accordingly, but the M&P has a shorter grip which will make it easier to conceal when sitting down, bending over, etc...

I have the M&P9c, same/similar platform. Over 2000 rounds, flawless. Really like this firearm.

As for printing, body shape, carry style, holster, belt, clothing and other variables all effect printing.

I also carry a SW1911 full size .45acp and think the 9c is an easier conceal. It does have a wider profile than my 1911, but less weight, shorter barrel and grip make the 9c, at least for me an easier carry when wearing summer clothing.

In the winter, my 1911 is always at my side.

I hope you enjoy your new S&W!!!!!

I think you bought a very reliable firearm platform and will be happy, however you decide to use it.

Good luck and enjoy!!!!

I've got a 40C, have only had it out at the range thus far, but am going to start to carry tomorrow, I don't like the feel of IWB (yet anyways) so I've got a new comptac OWB (a fill-in until my Raven Concealment gets here) that I've tried around the house with my winter coats/sweatshirts etc and seems to conceal well with heavier clothing, gonna try it out and see how it goes.

I think I'm just paranoid. I asked my wife if she could tell I was carrying, and even after giving me a hug she said I wasn't wearing a pistol

I used the Cross Breed IWB holster with my MP9C, it works very well. Otherwise the pro carry belt holster from Haugen Handgun Leather keep it secure and riding high. Great gun, well over 1500 rounds through mine, no issues. I also had the trigger done to 5lbs. Good luck!

well, I've carried this pistol for two days now, just because I can. would you believe it prints worse than my full size 1911?

My 40c doesn't print with the right cant. If the cant's neutral, it prints like an SOB because the grip sticks out. Try a different holster. I use a Galco summer comfort, and once it settles it doesn't print. I try and make it ride too high when I first put it on, but after 15-20 minutes of moving around it finds the magic spot and vanishes/stops moving.[laugh]
