Someone posted about this model today. It was Depict's thread, IIRC and the thread was wrt picking a gun for a woman. Hope that gives you enough to go on to find the thread.
I've got one and love it...I was actually just at Four Seasons and they have a used one, in what looked at a glance to be good shape, for $225 or something like that.
I'll put my $0.02 for the S&W 422/622. I bought one of the 422 (blued; 622 is the stainless [nickle?] version) at Four Seasons earlier this year and have been just thrilled with how it shoots. Easier to take apart than the 22A IINM...
I got mine for ~$175 at Four Seasons.Great plinker and lots of dumb fun with an ATN reflex sight on top.Go ahead and call S&W and ask for a few spare plastic buffers if you pick one up.Mine likes a new one about every 4 bricks.S&W customer service has just mailed me a few for free when I ask but I suppose you could actually buy them.
I love 22As so much, I've owned five of them. Right now I only have three, as I'm trying to cut down. (weak smile)
I've found this is a great gun, for newbies, and as an outstanding plinker, especially with a cheap BSA red dot sight attached to the built in sight rail.
I did end up getting one yesterday. It has the wooden grips on it that were a bit large, but Kim has small hands, and I had her hold it, and she was able to reach the trigger, and be comfortable with it.
A good low-cost red dot sight? I like the 30 mm BSA red dot sight so much I have three of them. This red dot has at least ten different brightness settings, holds zero, and uses lithium batteries you can get cheaply at Walmart or Home Depot.
You should never assume... Because I might just be the type of lazy bastard that has had the C&R paperwork sitting on his desk for a year just waiting to be filled out!
I've got that same scope (haven't tried it on a gun yet). You can get it for the same price at WalMart and no shipping. Or you could save $4 and have a friend with a C&R (}cough{ }ahem{) order it for you...
I also bought a Tasco red dot (MidwayUSA part number 323038) that I put on my Marlin 60SS. Worked GREAT!
Ruger fan here ;-)
You can go all steel for just a little more coin and also open yourself up to more aftermarket parts. A MKIII with a volquartsen sear and some home fitted oversized pins can do QUITE nicely. Takes a little work but you can outshoot a pardini @ 50 ft (Pardini eventually wins when you start getting out there).
Plus I like steel.
I recommend the 22/45 as the grip and balance is superior for me.
