Anyone have one?
Thoughts?

Just looking for a good plinking 22, accurate enough to have fun with, yet won't hurt the wallet too bad.

Adam,

Someone posted about this model today. It was Depict's thread, IIRC and the thread was wrt picking a gun for a woman. Hope that gives you enough to go on to find the thread.

Adam,

I'll put my $0.02 for the S&W 422/622. I bought one of the 422 (blued; 622 is the stainless [nickle?] version) at Four Seasons earlier this year and have been just thrilled with how it shoots. Easier to take apart than the 22A IINM...

I got mine for ~$175 at Four Seasons.Great plinker and lots of dumb fun with an ATN reflex sight on top.Go ahead and call S&W and ask for a few spare plastic buffers if you pick one up.Mine likes a new one about every 4 bricks.S&W customer service has just mailed me a few for free when I ask but I suppose you could actually buy them.

I love 22As so much, I've owned five of them. Right now I only have three, as I'm trying to cut down. (weak smile)

I've found this is a great gun, for newbies, and as an outstanding plinker, especially with a cheap BSA red dot sight attached to the built in sight rail.

Cool!
Thanks for the info everyone.. I am going to go to FS today after work to check out a couple different models.

Adam, when you go to FS and look at any used 22As they have, don't be put off if you see that the slide has worn the finish off of the frame.

With every one of these guns I've owned that kind of finish wear starts almost immediately. It doesn't affect performance or longevity.

They are great guns! FS almost always seems to have one or two used ones on hand.

Might be different sized after-market grips available for it that could fit you better?

I did end up getting one yesterday. It has the wooden grips on it that were a bit large, but Kim has small hands, and I had her hold it, and she was able to reach the trigger, and be comfortable with it.

Now, what's a good low cost red dot?

You should never assume... Because I might just be the type of lazy bastard that has had the C&R paperwork sitting on his desk for a year just waiting to be filled out! [smile]

Adam,

I've got that same scope (haven't tried it on a gun yet). You can get it for the same price at WalMart and no shipping. Or you could save $4 and have a friend with a C&R (}cough{ }ahem{) order it for you... [smile]

I also bought a Tasco red dot (MidwayUSA part number 323038) that I put on my Marlin 60SS. Worked GREAT!

Ruger fan here ;-)
You can go all steel for just a little more coin and also open yourself up to more aftermarket parts. A MKIII with a volquartsen sear and some home fitted oversized pins can do QUITE nicely. Takes a little work but you can outshoot a pardini @ 50 ft :-P (Pardini eventually wins when you start getting out there).
Plus I like steel.

I recommend the 22/45 as the grip and balance is superior for me.
