But can their boys put on makeup and name all 362 genders?

  • As a tribute to what would have been the 100th birthday of Mikhail Kalashnikov Russia's Ministry of Education has released guidelines for schools to teach students how to assemble assault rifles.
  • Kalashnikov, known as the creator of the eponymous assault rifle, often known as the AK-47, is seen as a national hero in the country.
  • The lessons are intended to "foster patriotism, help school children form a Russian identity, and allow them to understand the value of defending their fatherland," according to online newspaper Meduza.
  • The lessons include everything from reading books written by Kalashnikov to comparing his well-known rifles with American M-16s. In some schools, students will learn to assemble and disassemble the Russian assault rifle at speed.
Schools in Russia will begin teaching students how to assemble AK-47 assault rifles, an activity planned as a tribute to what would have been the 100th birthday of Mikhail Kalashnikov, the inventor of the weapon

Russia's Education Ministry published a set of methodological guidelines on Tuesday that called for nationwide lessons on the AK-47, claiming that the classes will "foster patriotism, help schoolchildren form a Russian identity, and allow them to understand the value of defending their fatherland," according to online newspaper Meduza.

The lessons can take on different formats, depending on the school's resources, the manual states. These include everything from reading books written by Kalashnikov to comparing his well-known rifles with American weapons, like the M-16.

In some schools, students will also learn how to assemble and disassemble the Russian assault rifle at speed.

Pupils in their final two years of school will also discuss Kalashnikov's letter to the head of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2012, in which he expressed his regret, saying he "feared he was to blame" for all deaths linked to the AK-47.

The manual also states that "more people have been killed by the Kalashnikov than by artillery fire, air raids and rocket fire combined. Every year, a quarter of a million people die as a result of AK-projectiles. So far, no designer has achieved anything comparable."

It is not clear how long the lessons will go on for, although the Ministry has said that their aim was to educate the children to be proud of their country.

In 2017, Russian President Vladimir Putin honored the memory of Kalashnikov with a giant monument in Moscow.

But critics are concerned about Russia developing a warlike understanding of patriotism. They have also said that the anniversary program is primarily associating Russian schools to weaponry and violence, rather than cultural or academic achievements.

The teaching material is intended for students of all ages.

Kalashnikov, who died in 2013 at the age of 94, is seen in Russia as a national hero.

In the lead-up to his anniversary, the country is celebrating with a number of different events across the country. The weapon designer would have turned 100 years old on November 10.

We should be doing the same. November 22 birth date of Eugene Stoner inventor/chief engineer of the ArmaLite AR-15

Teach our kids how to disassemble and reassemble the ArmaLite AR-15 and have timed competitions. Then give them the parts to build their own ArmaLite AR-15. Give our kids a proud moment. Patriotism at it's best!

... if Liberals have their way..

That kid is going to have some issues. Right hand shooter, but left eye dominant.

Still cooler than 99% of the kids in Massachusetts I bet.

Chew on this...if the commonwealth goes all out communist at some point, does that mean we get AK’s back? I could do without AR’s due to interchangeability of uppers...but would really like to have about 4 or 10 more AK’s to round out the collection.

Now if they were actually allowed to fire them, that would be great!
Welcome to America, we teach our kids to handle and shoot many types of firearms at a young age.
We own firearms and keep them in our homes!

The govt. here serves us, not the other way around!

Put down the rifle kid, now step back. Only your govt. can own them! You can't be trusted with that right!

Russian kids have been taught this for many decades.

In America, the sorry bastard leftists don't want kids to even hear the word "gun".

That's the first thing I noticed as well. Was wondering if that's really the case or the kid just doesn't know any better. I have that issue myself. Sucks with carbine iron sights.

And are taught English, on the chalk board behind. Nothing new being taught a different language just funny to see the difference between the thinking of the two country's.

In this country if you assemble a pop tart into something resembling a gun the SWAT team arrives in class, kills the hamster, and the kid ends up on welfare because he can't find a job they have a "past" and no education.

I worked with a lady from Russia in the nineties.

She said they were taught to assemble and disassemble the AK-47 with their eyes closed as children in school.

Maybe news today but she is 60 years now.

Some Countries raise Patriots, others watch them play on Sunday.

And our kids are being taught to hide under desks and throw staplers at the bad guys.
Mikhail Kalashnikov should have no regrets. He designed a rifle that was simple to construct and effective in combat to defend his country, nothing more. If others used his invention to kill innocent people, the guilt lies with them, not him.

Start them on the AR-1 in 2024, the 50 year anniversary

At least our military can assemble guns just as fast - without even breaking a finger nail.

That is because our military allows men to wear nail polish now.

It makes the nails strong.

And, it sparkles.

This right here is all you need to know (yeah, its been posted before!)

Hey looks great.

2 problems. No one in that room could ever own an firearm even close to the one they are touching, and no one in that room could probably even afford to shoot it.

Hating on America is cool. The Democrats do it on /r/politics all the time, basically 24/7/365.

The truth is Russian gun law and culture makes MA look like NH.

military education always been a part of Russian/USSR education and mandatory for high school diploma.
Also, most of the schools had shooting range in the basement and 2nd graders where always welcomed and encouraged to join marksmen club and military clubs.
