Ruger SR9 +P Ammo

Is it ok to use +P ammo (9mm) in the Ruger SR9 for defense reasons (and maybe 10 rounds here-and-there for practice). Will it hurt the gun?? I know the manual says no +P but that's all I can find in SD ammo.

bump - I don't own that firearm but I would stick to the manufacturer's recommendation. Overpressure ammo in a gun not designed to handle it can be a bad thing.

Do what you want. I have been shooting +P out of an old Ruger P85 for years without issue. I am sure they rated the chamber and barrel for +P when they built it. I know the manual says no +P ammo.
