Hello, I hate to bring this up, but i'm not clear on all the rules yet. My father has a Ruger p89 9mm he bought back in the early 90's, and I want to get him a couple more mags for his B-day coming up. I found a couple mags for purchase but not sure how to aquire them legally due to the capacity, and no dates on the mags. I just got my LTC unresricted. Thanx

With P89 mags when they were made is probably anyone's guess. Avoid any with LE/Mil only markings on them, though, no matter what... those are definitely off limits.

Reviving this old thread since I've been thinking about maybe buying a P89 at some point in the future and was curious about the mags also. So if there aren't any markings on them, then they're go to go? Even a 30 round magazine like this one? http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=375051678

I would assume to avoid newer produced mags such as this one http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=374332632

Here's an older looking mag that doesn't have markings and seems like it would be okay to own in MA. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=374534085

Just curious if anyone has any experience/knowledge with P89 mags.

I think Mike gives good advice. I am selling a Ruger PC9 carbine in the classifieds (which uses the p series magazines) and when I bought it from a local gun store, it came with a few 15 round magazines that were presumed to be preban, but are not date coded, so it is anyones guess when they were made.

Okay that's what I figured. Thanks.
