Hello,

I have an old model Super Blackhawk that has not had the transfer bar conversion. I wanted to know if having this done has any effect on the trigger because right now it has an amazing trigger pull that is very crisp without any creep. Does anybody have any experience with this? I am going to be sending the gun back to ruger because the stud that holds the ejector rod housing is stripped and I wanted to know if I should have the safety conversion done too.

Thanks,

Matt

I would recommend that you you do not. Unconverted 3 -screw Rugers bring a premium. Carry is with a empty chamber under the hammer like you would a Colt.

iirc Ruger claims they send back all the original parts with no permanent modifications(maybe that is just the 22s?)

They do send them back with the gun. It can be restored to original by just putting the original parts back in. Ruger makes no other changes.

.... Ruger makes no other changes.

No visible changes.
The frame will be stamped under the trigger guard to show that it has been converted.
The converted old models and new model guns have a noticeably longer trigger pull than the unconverted old models.
I've always loaded all of my single actions with five rounds max.
No chance of error that way.[wink]

Thats was I was worried about with sending it back for the other repair because I was thinking they may just do the safety conversion anyway. How hard is it to put the original parts back in?

Send it to a gunsmith.
