Ridgeline 2024

What do you have currently on your rifle that you don’t like/learned about your kit?

LPVO (primary arms) is not great. Didn’t love the grip. Might swap out the stock. Need a front qd sling attachment spot, only have mid rifle attachment spot. Had a forward pistol grip that I wanted to take off when I got there but didn’t have a long enough Allen wrench.

Have an offset rmr on there but it loosened up so I didn’t use it.

Very happy with my sling though! And the rifle shot great (super duty) just some things I don’t love and wanna change.

My main takeaways now that I've had time to reflect were:
  • Buy a shot timer
  • Have clean rails, grips don't help all that well. (for me. tore my AFG off midday in between drill strings)
    • Sling points can change depending on rifle use. In my Scoped Carbine class Alex & Rudy praised having the front sling point all the way forward. In this Combative Carbine class Larry & Joe (John?) really liked having it closer to the beginning of the rail
  • I need to spend more time on one rifle instead of f***ing with three others constantly shooting only from the bench
  • f***ing workout
  • Go for a run, fatty.
  • I hate puddles
  • thank god I had more socks
  • Buy some sweet pants with the side zippers to air out my dick and swamp ass
  • And lastly, Gcode soft rifle pouches are not for me. need some other options.

I was running the high point gear pouches and was having trouble getting the mags back in quickly. Wanna try the esstac people seem to like them.

And I need goretex boots.

Which PA LPVO did you run?

This one. I think it’s fine for bench shooting but for action drills, nah.

Honestly you don’t need goretex boots, just more wool socks. My tired Danners dried in a day and swapping socks on Sunday helped. That level of water standing we should have had muck boots.

You guys had more water than where I was at the end of the line. Still please refrain from stopping me from spending money on shit I don’t actually need.

If you actually want gortex boots, REI has a sale going right now.

Also if youre ok with MOA (you shouldnt be), this is a good deal on refurbished, REFURBISHED - RAZOR® HD GEN III 1-10X24 FFP MOA

Just figured you'd want to spend that money on glass instead! lol

Awesome class. Very impressed with the facility and shooting options. I’m a minimalist at heart and loved taking the magnifier off my gat. Very impressed with the capabilities of an 11.5” with a dot. I definitely learned I can shoot (mediocre) and move, just not together! Long days in the sun and puddles. The failure drills were pretty crazy. Never intentionally jammed extra rounds in the chamber, but that’s real training.

Was that a pistol or sbr?

I had an 11.5 in my bag but don’t have a lot of rounds in it so didn’t run it, but that’s what I wanna run it with next time.

Every time I’d run failure drills like that I’ve used snap caps, was kinda nice to use real rounds.

Getting gunpowder to continue jamming my gun the following day was definitely a good learning experience lol

sbr. That was only the second time shooting it. The gun is awesome.
