Ridgeline 2024

Bring both if its no extra trouble for you

I just rearranged scopes on my rifles so i could use the lpr15 with my lpvo and a quick zero. Works out that I can throw the warden on too and not have the brake be as bad, dont have a surefire on my other
I have been messing with set up between two rifles as well. I’m bringing both and we’ll see how it all shakes out. It’s gonna be hot!

I settled on one, the LWRC. I’m headed up to Littleton tomorrow afternoon to my hotel and will be getting dinner up there if anyone wants to meet up before Saturday.

I get it. But that’s not what I currently have on hand for next week.

We’re leaving directly from work and will probably be in Littleton around 7pm unless we can get out earlier.

I know some of you guys are running a RDS + magnifier or LPVO this weekend. Could you let us know which set up is better for the class? I'd love to run the LPVO but I'm guessing the RDS combo is more appropriate given the typical ranges.

I have went back and forther between the rds+magnifier or lpvo. I have never done a class like this. I'm going to start with the rds/magnifier and see what happens. I'm bringing the other setup as well. Plus yay for me, I just got my first set of glasses so thats going to be interesting.

Run what you want more training with and would typically use, not what you think would fit the class the best but wouldnt actually use outside of the class (if you have both and use both, you'll just have to take the class twice ;))

As a fellow glasses wearer, you might be better off with an LPVO if you deal with astigmatisms. YMMV

I’m bringing 2 setups but planning to just use the LPVO with offset red dot. The other setup is just RDS no magnifier.

Well? How was it?

And far did you make it home before you said “I shoulda stayed another night and got up early for the ride home”
It was really good, Id day staying Friday night would be more beneficial than staying Sunday night, as someone who only had a hotel for Saturday.

Aside from standing in puddles for two days because of the rain it was another dope weekend.

Realized how I need much more practice with my 12 mounted dot. Came close to winning a couple drills but pulled a shot just past the line both times.

I’m going to buy a kestrel shot timer soon.

A part of me can’t understand how the instructors stay focused with how awesome the landscape is.

My shoes are still wet.

I’m going to take basically everything off my rifle and start over after that class.

Kinda wanna run it again with just a red dot and see what I can do.

Definitely taking scoped carbine next year.

What pack is that?

What do you have currently on your rifle that you don’t like/learned about your kit?

Im interested in taking it again someday with a red dot after seeing how well they did. Especially with a lighter rifle

I was impressed with how quiet your rifle was

My main takeaways now that I've had time to reflect were:
  • Buy a shot timer
  • Have clean rails, grips don't help all that well. (for me. tore my AFG off midday in between drill strings)
    • Sling points can change depending on rifle use. In my Scoped Carbine class Alex & Rudy praised having the front sling point all the way forward. In this Combative Carbine class Larry & Joe (John?) really liked having it closer to the beginning of the rail
  • I need to spend more time on one rifle instead of f***ing with three others constantly shooting only from the bench
  • f***ing workout
  • Go for a run, fatty.
  • I hate puddles
  • thank god I had more socks
  • Buy some sweet pants with the side zippers to air out my dick and swamp ass
  • And lastly, Gcode soft rifle pouches are not for me. need some other options.

Shot timer is a no brainer. Train with a buddy.

I’m absolutely not a fan of forward grips. However!!! I have one on my sbr. I had a hand stop, but it chewed up my fingers. I prefer a simple vertical for grip as a hand stop for safety with a short barrel.

So there is that.

Sling points? Yup. Have a few. I’ve swapped out forward ones for mid ones in between stages depending on my needs.

Especially if I go from a plate carrier go time to weekend warrior in a tee shirt

Yup. I have several, but I use one 90% of the time.

Yup. Cardio! Move you f***ing fatty! (Directed at me).

I use kydex pouches. No soft ones excep on my plate carrier. Belt rigs are ridged.

Wonder bread bags on me feet to keep them dry. Thanks grandma.

I haven't had much luck with AFGs, but I missed my VFG when I took it off.

This seems to be more of a personal preference thing. When I took the CC class, all instructors promoted having the front sling point towards the muzzle. But as you said, there are advantages to each position.

I should have been more aware of this, but the hotels in the region absolutely rip everyone off with price gouging between Memorial Day and Veteran's Day.

I'll be looking for a spot to hang my hammock somewhere close by on the side of a hill next time.

I got the standard rate I pay year round, more than Id like but it was less than what others said the rate was when they looked.

Air b&b didnt look bad in the area for September when Ill be there next. Id also be fine sleeping in my car somewhere safe if it really came to that (I think the Hampton was 370+ in september)

Find a Hipcamp close to the range, there are a few.
