Hi Gunners,
Finally got these 2 little pups out of Kali jail. I've had 6 delays on my last 6 DROS apps and with the 1 in 30 bs along with my summer gig, it put me way behind. Just repainted both stocks FDE and did a little touch up on the metal bite. The upper is a Squires-Bingham (original manufacturer), the lower is an RIA (Armscorp) both discontinued. The stock profile is slightly different amongst other things, and the Squires has a shell deflector. The Squires muzzle device and the RIA aren't the same, and the Squires was painted shiny black all over while the RIA looks parked or flat. They both look much better with a contrasting stock. In the grand scheme of .22 collecting these are relatively hard to come by and the mags are hen's teeth hard to locate. There are 15's and 50 round drums out there somewhere. These both are 10's. They're pretty cool and very quiet. PAX

I have something that looks identical. I bought it at a gun show (used) about 30 years ago.

It is marked.......
SQUIRES BINGHAM MODEL - 16
MANUFACTURED BY ARMS CORPORATION
OF THE PHILIPPINES

I haven't shot it in a long time, and I really don't know much about it other than it was cheap and it runs good with snappy ammo.

Yes the Squires is slightly different in the furniture, finish and muzzle device. The Squires is "Shiny" and the RIA looks parked or flat. Mechanically they're the same. PAX

Back in the day before there were dedicated 22LR uppers besides the Squires Bingham model 16, there was also the Atchisson .22LR conversion kit for the AR-15...... And this........

It is Jager AP 74, 22LR. They were made in Italy and imported by Mitchell arms in Anaheim CA. Really nice rifle, much nicer than Squires in every aspect IMO. They also made an AK 22LR clone.

I had a lot of fun with this rifle but finally stopped shooting it due to parts availability. Numrich still has some parts available (even mags) but the firing pins are impossible to find. And firing pins were one problem with these, dry firing can be the death of them.

I bought 2 of these new for small $$$ when they came out, they were a bargain. I still have this one and another NIB. I really like these rifles, they are way cool.

Much more ARish vs just similar appearing. My 2 M1600s were fairly cheap, a Glenfield M75 swap for one and a C note for the other. PAX

I honestly cannot remember what I paid for the Jagers, (or the Squires) but it would be 80's $$$ so not comparable to today. I just remember they were inexpensive at that time.

I do like the way you modernized yours with the FDE look.

Inexpensive rifle that eats inexpensive ammo equals lots of inexpensive fun. [thumbsup]

That is a sharp looking plinker. Unfortunate about the parts. If you have an old firing pin, could you theoretically get one made, albeit at great expense?

way better price look on the RIA options over what my 15-22 set me back. I still haven't even shot it yet.
