RI Governor: .223 blows up animals

Politicians have exponentially ruined more people's lives than .223's have "blown up animals".
Hey gov, stick to ruining people's lives, you're better at it than you are presenting facts about guns or ammo.

No, she does have a point about exploding animals. I've seen it before.

Animals exploding is no laughing matter. First comes cat juggling, then they move on to heinous acts like this:

Everyone knows .... that only happens if you have a shoulder thing that goes up, and you have it fully deployed in the up position, when you pull the trigger.

In a recent post here, I never realized that the WWII BAR had a, "thing that went up".

The most nasty .223 round that I ever fired into a living target was a 53 grain Hornady Vmax. It struck a coyote square in the chest and killed him instantly. The bullet fragmented and pulverized a swath of bone and tissue about the size of a baseball.

I dropped a deer in NH with an AR15. Plugged mag for 5 rounds and it dropped like a stone. I hit it in the neck and the wound was 6" of cranberry sauce from one side to the other with no exit. The 56 grain Remington hollow point was a frangible round and I picked out 20-30 pieces before I just discarded the neck meat.

I've seen people hit with 223 ball. That is pink smoke depending on the sun direction.

And pinhead Bill O'reilly said "There is no question that Congress will introduce bills in September that limit Americans from aquiring high caliber weapons and ammo" Holy chit batman.

I just heard the RI governor Gina Raimondo on the radio spewing the usual BS about banning semiauto rifles, how there is no legitimate need for them, etc.

One line that caught my ear: she said military-style semi-auto rifles have no hunting purpose because the bullets "completely blow up the animal".

These are the idiots leading the gun control charge!

that blowed up REAL GOOD!

That's because the economy in RI is absolute dog shit, a few months ago RI public schools average test scores were 20 points BELOW Mass schools average, the schools in Providence (not really her fault, but she's been gov for over 4 years and this issue has been heavily focused on for the past month and a half) are rodent infested dumps and nobody has a plan to fix them, there's a budget crisis in every major municipality... there is little positive news to report on in regards to RI.

The only positive thing I can say is car excise taxes have gone down (and are supposed to be eliminated in a few years) and I see a lot of road work has been done the past year, year and a half. The problem is in that same timeframe, they've been tearing up roads to work on pipes underneath and the patch they put down may as well be a giant pothole.

The whole state just feels like it's rotting and the reports from Providence schools and lack of action make that even more obvious. It's not necessarily Gina's fault, but it's not like one day the schools were fine and the next they weren't, they've been like this for a long time, so where the hell has her Dept. of Education been the past 4.5 years?

It's been clear to me the past 5 years that the low quality of education that public students get in RI schools contributes heavily to the unemployment. If you were looking to move operations or start a business somewhere, why would you choose Rhode Island when the local population has no skills, when the test scores are 20 points lower than neighboring Massachusetts, a state that also gives better tax breaks for businesses than RI?

Local radio calls her out whenever she talks about guns and at least one of the hosts is notably anti-gun, but he doesn't like obvious political posturing and grandstanding on stuff that isn't true.

Problem is, AFAIK, nobody on local TV news calls out her BS with factual reporting on what rifles like AR's and AK's are capable of, they don't have actual firearms experts with hunting backgrounds come on and dispel the lies that Gina spews, so whatever Gina says goes virtually unchallenged and becomes truth to the low information crowd.

My question for Gina is if .223 is "only used for military purposes" would she support a ban on all .223 caliber rifles, including single shot rifles?

I would love to see the deer in headlights look in her eyes when asked that and get it on camera because I desperately want the answer to be yes so we can take her words out of context that Gina wants to ban all rifles, single shot ones included, because nearly every non rimfire rifle would be subject to Gina's "too powerful for hunting" ban.

As close as RI is, one never hears much from them. Kooky Gina is the only news I ever see in the Boston market. I went to see the mansions in Newport once and that was it.

If .223 becomes illegal for us unwashed "civilians", I will upgrade to .22-250. Same bullet. 500 feet per second faster. Other than its brief use by the Australian SAS for urban sniping/counter-terrorism operations training back in the 1980s, it has never been adopted as a military cartridge.

As much as I dislike our Massachusetts elected officials, I think RI between Sheldon Whitehouse and Ramundo are the stupidest.

I concur with my brethren from Southeast of me. Whitehouse is not smart. Worse is he's got that voice that sounds like he's always on his last 2cc's of air in his lungs. You struggle to hear him even though he's speaking at full volume.

Gina's a Socialist. But the worst kind. She doesn't believe in Socialism, per se. She believes, that if she were in charge of EVERYTHING, it would all be fixed. That's a scary individual. Megalomaniac.

I like the old Roman republic system. Make me consul for one year. I WILL fix everything. But not everyone will like it.

Not a megalomaniac. And I will walk away when the year is over. But it’s gonna be one hella year!

To be fair, I’m pretty sure prairie dogs do actually explode when you hit them right with a ~40gr HP.

Aside from that, though...not so much.

have you ever heard the RI accent? Reason we don't hear from them is because nobody can understand them...
It's like Boston meets Worcester meets country drawl meets bigfoot meets chewbacca

Yeah. Until you're Caesar or Emperor Palpatine and decide that a year isn't long enough. How'bout we have elections and stuff and a strong Congress to thwart a crazy maniacal leader?

Well, if I can’t be the absolute ruler, I suppose I’ll settle for crappy elections.

But really. I would fix thingz faz. Like at light speed. You’d not recognize this country after a year of my rule. And you d like the new country.

But carry on with your elections if you wish.

Outside of Newport mansions, there's not much here worth driving over the potholes to see. From Pawtucket to Warwick it's an urban, third world dump with most of the people living off benefits. Those that live in that stretch of cities that do work, work in Mass because in Mass you get paid more and get better health insurance.

For some reason, Rhode Island companies don't want to include dental or vision coverage.

As I said, the people in RI aren't that smart. The average guy from Mass is far more intelligent than the average guy in RI.

Most of the ideas the buffons in the state house come up with aren't original ideas, they're all taken from somewhere else. Why RI hasn't legalized recreational marijuana beats me, they're just losing millions in tax revenue not doing it and it's not stopping people from smoking it. I can't go anywhere on the weekend with smelling the skunk shit.

It's just a rotting state... Rot Island.

Uhhh, they have pretty good food. And some nice boating. Jamestown is pretty damned nice. It's a big state. Biggest little state in the Union. They can buy Glocks at the local gun shop and own hi-cap mags. So they have that, too.
