A particular city in Massachusetts has decided that the Flag of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is offensive and should be removed from the City Council Chambers and a commission needs to be established (Taxpayer funded of course) to recommend altering the flag to remove certain items which are seen as "oppressive" .

Thank goodness Cambridge is there to protect inclusiveness.

Cambridge considers removing Massachusetts state flag from city hall

I bet most of the people receiving benefits under the flag have no idea what symbols are even on it.

Will it be a blue ribbon commission or just a regular commission?

They should replace the state flag with a tampon,I would care about it just the same.

Even though the whole thing is probably a money grab. Imagine how much money it would cost to change logos on all the state vehicles.

They should remove all the iconology from the flag. Here's the new state flag for liberals to be happy

Can we submit the Tyranny / MA state outline logo as a suitable replacement?

Let's melt down all the Massachusetts state quarters from 2000 which show a guy with a musket while we're at it.

Not to mention. The longfellow bridge should be demolished. It's a tribute to something which has induced panties-in-twist and arm flapping.

It always made me sad to walk across that bridge and read the words after spending an hour or two on the red line and in traffic. I got odd one stop early so I could walk it almost every day.

    its larger than that story:
    Resolve S.1877

    Change the Mass Flag

Funny how things can be reinterpreted over decades. The sword was a symbol of our revolution from England rule and the Indian a symbol of Massachusetts ancestry.

Now the sword is ruling over the Indian in a racist manner. A common problem in our society apparently.

Let's remind ourselves what is Cambridge:

Cambridge Wonders What Went Wrong with Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

“There were questions from students about academic type topics,” he continued, “like, how come they didn’t read that kid his Miranda rights? And what’s this about the exception? Will they try him in a civil court or military court? How do they decide that kind of thing?”

It was very Cambridge, in a great way.

That is racist. The flag should be a dark shade of brown to represent the oppressed minorities... and MassiveTwoShits

I hope they get rid of the State motto as well. This state does not deserve that motto.

Someone should formally propose this, if for no other reason than to highlight the absurdity.

notice that it's always the "woke" idiots who bitch about this kind of stuff. Would love to hear the explanation about what's so offensive about it. How is the portrayal of the native American Indian offensive? It's not some sort of caricature or demeaning portrayal. Any of the local tribes have any input on this? Would love for them to come out and claim that these "woke" libs are trying to erase Massachusetts' native American influence and history.

It's how they get to own the narrative: say anything negative and it's rayciss stereotyping; say anything positive and it's cultural appropriation.
Ergo, you cannot say anything at all.

I think this person's quote (no idea who it is) sums up the opposition:
"Abraham expresses that she believes the sword, and therefore the Latin motto as well, are meant to represent the English settlers’ victory and oppression over the Native Americans, thus making the entire state flag culturally offensive."
