I heard on RKO a little while ago that UMass Amherst took a poll of 400 likely primary voters. The AG is now neck and neck with Patrick, which means his support has dropped. IIRC, he had at least 20% more than Duval.

Doncha love it? :D

Doncha love it?

But he's not good at politics. [lol]

If Christy Mihos can somehow get on the ticket, I'd vote for him.

I hope Peter BLute (former WRKO host) runs against Kennedy.

Any ideas where these folks stand on the 2nd?

I'd love to hear the debate on which was worse, the Nautica or the Oldsmobile!

I must have still been living in Maine when this happend. Can you find a news link on this Nautica story? (or a good summery)

From what I gather nobody died on this boat (and the Olds was in fact NOT a boat...and Teddy Proved it). So I'd vote Olds having more scandal trump-points!

Hey, Thanks.....ok I don't get it. Besides it being "Unflattering" what's the big deal?

Sounds like a clean-leagal setting for imbibing in some adult beverages....and a woman decided to indencetly expose herself.

I wouldn't resign my job if I was photographed in a bar with Ted Kennedy puking in the background....

Just google peter blute.

No one died or was murdered, raped or molested. It's really a non story by MASS standards. Just a taxpayer funded booze cruise in Boston Harbor for Peter Blutes department & friends at MASSPORT (???). Reporters somehow caught wind of it while it was going on and sent a photographer to the pier. Some lady onboard had the great idea to do her girls gone wild impression and flashed the reporter. He got the money shot. A short time later Blute either resigned or was fired.

Every time I see your signature...I.e. "Arrr" I think of that Fedex.com commercial. You know where they job placement guy is like...let me get this straight, your a pirate and all you can say is "Arrrr". [lol]

If Christy Mihos can somehow get on the ticket, I'd vote for him.
If Mihos gets on the ticket, it will be as an independent. He will then split the conservative vote with Healey, and Reilly will be our next governor.

Be careful what you wish for.

I erred on the numbers...he was 30% higher before the phone call to Conte and the illegal tuition support. This keeps getting better and better.

Because Massachusetts was settled by the Puritans, and they're still here!

And they're the ones voting for Gay marrage and disarming the citizens???

Last time I looked the state supreme court was the reason gay marriage was legal - the legislature rammed through a bill against it. As for disarming the citizens... don't really think that it has anything to do with Puritanical views, really. But a hint of one of our politicians having *gasp* sex? Or booze? Horrors! Put them in pillory! [roll]

Just a small added note about Mass dirty politics.

The famous "girl flashing photog" is a Hollywood actress/stuntwoman named Gidget Churchill. Interesting aspect is that various reporters were on hand to catch the $899.00 trip to survey the Boston Harbor from the water side (actually, not a bad idea). The reporters at the scene, including folks from the Boston Herald, had a photog with them. When Ms. Churchill flashed the crowd, she did not "point" toward the folks at the gangway, but faced another photog who was at the end of the dock with a telephoto lens.

Sounds like someone was out to get Mr. Blute and this was a setup.

BTW, the Blute fiasco covered another, and worse piece of news that week: a female department head (I'd have to check my files for particulars) was discovered by her staff having sex with one of her assistants on her desk during lunch.

It just gets better and better.

Rumors at the time were that Jane Swift set Blute up. The reason for the uproar was that taxpayer money was used to reward a bunch of Blute political buddies . The topless stunt was definitely a set up, but it called attention to the unlawful use of taxpayer dollars by a hack. Peter had no choice but resign.

Surprise, her rack is well, kinda small.

I actually hope Mihos gets into the Repub primary. If he runs as an independent, he will draw votes from Healey. This would create the same situation as the 1992 presidential election that gave us Clinton (Remember Ross Perot?) allowing a gun-grabbing lib candidate to squeak into office. In that case, with an all-dem legislature and a leftist, extreme-lib governor, the anti-gun nutjobs will come out of the woodwork. Just look at recent news articles: A proposal to mandate a numbered imprint on a bullet (as it is leaving the barrel?), a proposal to mandate GPS devices installed in handguns, a proposal to restrict ammo purchases to the specific type of firearm you will be (in the future) restricted to owning, so if you are licensed for a shotgun, you can only purchase shotgun ammo and so forth. Each of these is an actual proposal brought forth by grandstanding lib politicians in response to rising crime in Boston. All of them completely unworkable, and unconstitutional, but it just won't matter. This election is going to be one of the most critical for pro-gun people in Mass., perhaps ever. Patrick and Reilly are complete liberal sops, and cannot be trusted under any circumstances. I personally hope the Repubs here get wheelbarrows full of NRA support. We're going to need it.

I agree with your statement about the rumors with one reservation: I am not sure that the expenditure was unlawful; but, it was sure embarassing enough to force his resignation.

To paraphrase Robert Bolt's Thomas More: "t profits a man nothing to sell his soul for all the world ... but for $899.00?"

There is no doubt that Blute was set up. Not only was the cruise dimed out (someone called the press prior to the cruise), but that same person didn't leave things to chance -- he hired his own photogs to be there, just in case the press didn't show.

Of course, Blute put himself in that position (wasting taxpayer money). The person who dimed him out merely made absolutely sure that it would be front page news.
