Registering a Homebuilt

Hi there is a discussion on another forum about registering homebuilt firearms and was wondering what the Mass requirements are. I saw something mentioned in another thread about a FA-10. But what happens if you don't? What then? Can someone show me a thread that has all the details?

I know you register it online I am looking for the link I know you have 7 days from the point in which it becomes operable to register it. I.E. once you join a complete upper with a complete lower when building an AR. I am sure somebody much more knowledgable than I will be along shortly

pretty sure you just do the FA10 and chose the option to register the firearm and from what i have heard this does not count against your 4 FA10 transfers per year. sorry dont know where there is a thread to link.

If you don't? Probably nothing. There is no way for them to really find out unless you are in some other sort of trouble already. However, it is still in violation of state law to NOT register it.

Ya people in free states think you are nuts when you tell them you have to register your home builts.
I don't know what the penalties are though so I can't tell them. There will be more ire towards crappy
government when I tell them of the penality.

As Business stated, a FA-10 is required to be submitted within seven days of being "capable of firing a shot or bullet".

The penalty for failure to submit a FA-10 is, for the first offense, a fine of $500-$1000.

The penalty for a subsequent offense is incarceration for up to 10 years.
