Hi , looking for suggestions on how I should finish a original 10/22 stock I have . I cut the barrel band portion off of it , sanded down the barrel groove to fit a .920 barrel , and then sanded the entire stock down to bare wood again . Now what do you think I should go with , Stain , paint ? Laquer or poly finish ? Any other options

I left mine 'blonde'. I like the contrast.

check out rimfirecentral. you will see plenty of kick-ass paint schemes.

i do really like the look of the blonde one posted above, though.

Kaos,
What is the butt pad that you have on there?
I would like to get something that is a bit more textured than the stock plain plastic one. When I sling up, the stock plate has a tenancy to slide around a bit on the shoulder.

Thanks,
Steve

It's just a generic 10/22 recoil pad. I put it on to give me more length of pull. The added benefit was a bit more grip when shouldered. It doesn have the greatest fit, but once I got it screwed on, I haven't got around to taking it off and trimming it up.

I think it was this one.
