I recently bought a Millet compact red dot sight for indoor bullseye which I mounted on my MKIII. It came with an "extension tube" which I added to the sight before mounting. The extension tube broke off at the top thread.

My question is, what is the extension tube for? I've looked, and haven't found a answer to this question yet. There was very little information that came with the site and no explanation was included.

On my Ultra Dots, the extension tube is intended to be used for applications where the scope rings need to be too far apart to mount directly on the sight itself. I've never had to do that, and what most of us on my Bullseye team do is screw them onto the ocular (i.e., near) side of the scope to eliminate any potential glare on the glass.
