Thanks to all for their advice and opinions. I don't have any fine kitchen cutlery and all my EDC, fishing and utility knifes are not highend, nothing over $75. I ended up ordering the the Lansky based on my needs, your recommendations and a bit of research. It should fit the bill and it won't break the bank. Thanks again.

There’s specialized sandpaper that can do the job. Go to the auto parts store and get the finer grits. I tape them to my table saw top (real flat surface. And I have gotten good results. I learned it from reconditioning old hand planes
