Hello NES.....I think it's time for a new belt. I have a galco belt that I wear as my everyday belt for 6 years now carrying or not. There's nothing wrong with it for a regular belt but I think it's lost too much of its stiffness now that I'm getting back into shooting and regular carry. It was a little cheap for a gun belt and while it works for carry, It's not the best. I think I paid like 60-80 for it.

So can someone recommend a beltmaker that meets these criteria:

-no super long lead times. I can wait a few weeks but I'm not waiting til March
-not going to break the bank. I get that you can't/shouldn't skimp on a gun belt. I expect to pay but I'd prefer not to sped $200 on a belt
-something that can be worn as an every day belt, with jeans or a suit.

Thanks guys

the suit requirement is a dealbreaker for many belts.

A suit belt needs to be narrow and nicely finished with a discreet buckle.

If you dress with an untucked shirt, a wilderness systems instructor belt is the best belt you can get.

The hanks belt is great, although I find the holes are a bit farther apart then is ideal.

My thought is this. Get a nice dress gun belt from a top quality maker. This will run your $100+
Also get a wilderness or hanks belt for more casual carry to save wear and tear on the expensive belt.

I've got a 10 year old delFatti dress belt thats still in great shape because i only wear it when i'm wearing a suit or sport coat.

My Wilderness belt is always worn with an untucked shirt. Its way tacticool and I don't like the look. But it works.

The hanks is worn with a tucked in shirt with jeans or casual khakis.

I'd actually like a lead on decently priced 1" belt, double thickness with a nice high polish nickel or chrome buckle.

My delFatti is black and I'd like to pick up a cordovan belt.

One very cool thing I've seen on some high end belts is that the front, where people see is only 3/4 or 1", but it tapers out to 1.5" in the back where the gun is held and where it can't be seen when wearing a jacket.

This gives the refined look of a thin belt with the carrying comfort of wider belt.

Beltman - 80 for custom everything (even hole placement) - I wear it every day no matter what I'm wearing. You can get them with a steel band in them, so even the 1.25 inch works with a full size gun. Took me six weeks. Dual layer bullhide belts. He also has some of the more common ones ready to ship sooner.

I use a (Super Bio Belt) from bullhide belts. Have had it for a while and have zero complaints. Price was good to.

I was looking into these. As nice as the super thick/double thick/bridle leather belts are. They always seem to start getting too flexible on me after about 4 years of use or so. I was looking into getting a reinforced belt, and this one seems like a good option. They look nice but I haven't heard of anyone else getting one.

I use either the Wilderness or the Spec-Ops Better BDU Belt. The Spec Ops is a little thinner than the Wilderness, but still holds up pretty well for around $30.

I'm out of my league on what to wear with a suit

I wear a 5.11 belt every day, even with suits.

I'm guessing you mean this:

It will go fine with a suit. A bit wide, but otherwise ok.

I just switched to the Wilderness Instructor belt about a month ago and could not be happier. It's exactly what I had been looking for.

It really is the best, as long as you are going untucked, or don't mind the tacticool look.

These. Makes a huge difference.

Crossbreed. Wife and I each have two. I wear one almost everyday for the past 5 years, still great.

ETA: Gun Belt, 1.5", not the dress or instructor belts. I haven't tried those.
