Recall H4885 referendum

The less attention this gets, the better for their side. "Wait, I can't do X???" "yeah...that was passed months and months ago..."
After a point it won't matter they're still going to be metric shit tons of those people.

Hell I spoke with somebody last night that has been kind to keeping track of some of the bill but not enough to know the scope of the stuff that they banned in it. The knowledge Gap is pretty wide...

Per state law, she can enact an emergency preamble at any time by drafting a notice of emergency, signing it, and delivering that notice to the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State then has to verify the notice meets the statutory requirements, and if he approves, the emergency preamble is valid upon his declaring it is a valid document.

I am aware of that. My comment is based on the premise that they did not see the petition situation coming and were caught by surprise. Again just my opinion.

I think you're underestimating her, that's dangerous.

Perfectly fine
If you are insinuating that we not fight because they may punish us further, then EABOD then FOAD.

The approach never made sense if you accepted that she was just going to go the preamble route. This isn't about fighting and she's not punishing us further, it's us wasting resources and her making entirely predictable moves.

It got a shit ton of press coverage
That made it worth it all on its own.
They didn't waste resources, they developed a grass roots outreach and got free advertising.
All for a lot less than a few radio spots

It's simple. If we don't pull all the strings like they do..... well BOHICA!

It's already here, 3 weeks earlier than expected.

Sometimes pulling a string unravels your whole sweater.

Doesn't matter, one way or another they were going to enable it regardless of what "we" did. If our side does not change our thought process on how to challenge them then we might as well move to a warmer climate that is more accepting.

Stupidity = doing the same thing over and over and over expecting a different result.

The only challenge to any of this is in court. Everything else is a complete waste of time.

And would they have released a notice saying that gun stores could sell long guns if there wasn't a ton of publicity?
Not likely.

If you believe GOAL wasted your money then stop sending them any, if you even donate now.

You think the publicity did it or they realized that they were about to drive every shop out of business and accelerate the legal challenges? Who knows.

What do you think about the apparent decision to follow through and put this on the ballot given that the preamble has been signed? Good idea or bad idea? This isn't meant as a setup, I'm interested in your (and others') view.

They planned to drive the shops out of business - the publicity and reaction put them on edge after the release of Canjura. They know they are on shaky ground and are trying to reduce the damage once this hits the courts.

And why not continue with the initiative.
It will be well on it's way through the courts by the time it hits the ballot.

I also want to know how the people who were saying she wouldn't sign the emergency preamble at all feel today.
They probably feel fine considering they probably don't have a bunch of inventory sitting around that they might not be able to move. It's not their skin. Personally I have mixed feelings. I definitely do not like what it's doing to my dealer friends but on the other hand the "forced chaos" may end up working out for us in the short game. Only time will tell.

Ha Ha Ha. Where did I ever insinuate that we should not fight?

The argument from this thread was that this path would at least delay the law from going in to effect for 2 years. But instead it got accelerated by 3 weeks.

We all need to fight this, but we need to change the approach. I continue to donate to GOAL, Comm2A, SAF, GOA, and even NRA. I won't stop. I also educate as many people as I can and have even turned 2 extreme liberals in to gun owners.

I said it earlier, the government and the media have this so twisted that no one besides NES even knows what it's about. Turn on the news and all it talks about is common sense, ghost guns, red flag. They never even talk about FID holders can't own common use rifles and shotguns that aren't even scary ARs. They don't talk about how it's now impossible to get a license. Which completely takes away someone inalienable right. New licensing requirements are also a financial and time burden, which keeps this right away from some lower income groups.

We need to use those same tactics to show the people that these new laws are discriminatory to groups. Use the race and economic cards against them. Get that message out there and get that kind of coverage. Use the same emotional and phycological warfare they use against us.

Otherwise, if and when a vote gets on the ballot, the VAST MAJORITY of the population will think the law is a good thing. We can't afford to lose that way because then we are truly screwed.

Fight this in the courts. Fight it on social media. Fight with the same tactics they use against us.

Like how the firearms roster is a tax on firearms by adding unnecessary features and forcing manufacturers to pay for "testing" on a per model basis, including differences in color, all of which is passed on to the purchaser of a firearm, making it essentially a tax on the RTKBA that has historically and even currently being used to keep minorities from being able to exercise their 2nd amendment rights, Like the NFA 1934 and just about every law thereafter.

A large number of gun owners were first introduced to 4885 by the news of the petition.

The three weeks weren't guaranteed
