I have a shotgun that was left to me by my father I am looking to get reblued. I completely striped it to clean it and refinish the stock. When I got it apart I decided to reblue it. I was going to try it myself knowing that whatever I did could be striped off if it didn't look good and I practiced on some mild steel I had around that I cleaned and polished. I have found that no matter how many coats I put on I can't get that deep blue I am looking for. I know I could spend a bunch of money and order the stuff to rust blue it but at that point I might as well pay someone. It is a late 60's model Ithica 37 Deerslayer not worth a lot of money but priceless to me. I was taught to hunt a with this gun and will pass it on to my children with any luck so I figure why skimp. It is in great shape not really any rust just a couple dings from 40 years of hunting. Anyway I didn't know if anyone here knows of anyone in the southern Worcester Co. area or within a 40 or so min drive that will reblue? I called LaRocca in Worcester but I felt like I was getting a "that is not worth my time attitude and was rushed off the phone". I have found places an hour plus drive from me but I just don't have the time to make that drive right now.
