What do you guys do for Christmas. Do you guys do a live tree, or a fake one.

We had a fake one. But we gave it to Peanut's brother. So we had a live one last year.

I think that it was my wife's first Live tree. She loved it, until we had to take it out after Christmas. She was complaining about needles for a while. :D

But then, she just told me that she was wanting another live tree this year.

I really like a live tree over a fake one, but it's just more work.

What do you people have every year?? And if you get a live tree...where do you get it?

Do you do a fresh cut tree, where you pick it out and chop it, or have it chopped down? Or do you go to a nursery or one of those street side shops?

Don't get me all exited with the title of the thread and not post pics!!!!!! Trees? CMON Cpher!!!!!!!!

I love the real ones. Plastic does the job but don't feel and look right. I like'm to be big and natural. [twisted]

:) my thoughts exactly, I looked into this thread and was dissapointed much like Derek was :(

I go real.....but they are a mess with dropped needles (even if you do a SUPER good job with the water)

Some of the newer fakes actully look kinda good. But the wife grew up with Fake, so now in our house it's REAL.

My Folks have a wood stove, was always nice tossin last year's tree into the stove! Good smell 8)

Arrrr

We have done both. When Alan was little we would do the real tree and we'd make a family outing of picking the tree. After awhile I hated the needles, and we went to the fake. Once I got the ferrets we didn't put a tree up,and I definately won't now that I have 2 cats, that I am sure would think nothing of climbing it, etc. [lol]

some years we've gotten pine trees that are ready for planting. You don't get as many needles in the house and then you have a nice new tree in the yard for the new year...

OK, here you guys go, I'm sorry.

Real

Yes, but most towns will have a free drop off place. And they will grind them down to mulch. So if you recycle your trees as well, it will be used to save your town money.

[lol] [lol] [lol] my parents had one of those midget fake trees. It was from their first christmas together, which happened to be in Korea. But for the longest time we would still pull that one out and have 2 trees.
Man that thing was ugly!

I thought it was your tree. [lol] [lol] Should get a small one like that and send it to Paul. I am going to get a small one and some decorations and send it to Alan. Along with a stocking filled with goodies.

We always had a live tree but then we got a coal stove to suplement the heating. Needles[roll] to say, it would dry out pretty quick. My mother gave us a fake one that she didn't like (expensive) and we've used it ever since.
The fake tree is a lot of work. To build and take apart. But no mess.
I remember we were paying upwards of $50-60 for a live tree.
I think back when we were kids and always had the Charlie Brown type of tree. Those were the days!

Real ones are so nice...but we have a fake. Too much going on in the house to add the extra work of a real tree.

We used to have a fake tree, but one year Kath decided she wanted a real one for that year.

We sold the fake one at a garage sale the following summer.

We have chopped our own, (Houde's Tree Farm in Marlboro) but we've been getting trees lately from Capasso Farms in Southboro. They have a good selection that still smell like a Christmas tree.

Of course, for me, we put an electric menorah in the window and the real one in the kitchen. There's actually another house a few doors down that have both tree and menorah, too.

We always had a real one until about 8 years ago. The cat has a problem with not leaving the damn tree alone, and one year the dog decided to take part in it. Long story short - the tree was on the floor - horizontally. Since then, it's been a fake one, and due to space constraints, it's a 2 ft. one that sits on the table in front of our front windows. I miss the real tree, but there just isn't room for it... and we still have the cat.

Real untill my daughter started to walk.... now fake until she can realize that a pulled down tree does not an FFP make. [twisted]

Over the years, my wife and I have slowly moved from live tree, to cut tree, to fake plastic tree, and now, we have a pre-wired fake metal and white plastic tree.

High speed, low drag, but not very traditional.

All this bandwidth devoted to "Real v. Fake" and you're talking about CHRISTMAS TREES?!

I am SOOOOOOO disappointed...... [wink]
