Real ID I’m not getting one

Na, it's getting you use to the fact of eventually getting an implant for I.D. and tracking purposes as every other form of I.D. fails.
Maybe. After how insane the covid vaccine thing was anything is on the table.

Remember what most people did, bend over and hold their ankles.

<snip>

The whole thing is a joke, this whole fiasco is a knee jerk reaction to 9/11, yet in the last 20 years and especially the last 4 our borders are open, unprotected, and we have millions of people here who can't have their identities verified, yet they are allowed to fly, enter gvt buildings, etc etc etc
Sad but true.[frown]

They have permits too. Non resident can claim FOPA (more easily that is) if they have destination permit.
I was surprised too until another member explained why he had his. Going through NJ “going to NH sir…here my NH permit”
But I avoid NJ anyway, because they will f*** with you over your magazines.

Pretty sure I heard something to that effect a while back. It's more of a "cover our asses" move for them.

Smaller shops can get away without doing that, since they're beneath notice (for now).

Once again here is the thinking behind that shop having you provide ID. I saved this for such occasions'

FID & buy all the Ammo in the place. No FID/ no ammo. It does prevent ammunition from my store to be on your streets by the people that you wouldn’t want to be in public with your family. It has little to do with your AG. To prevent the accusations of profiling, we ask everyone to see the FID/or LTC. There has been more than you could ever imagine. No card holder has ever left without ammunition or compliant long guns they’ve wanted. You folks think it’s about you, it’s about the ones that can’t get what you have. If I just sold to everyone without asking, you’d be more pissed off if one of those “bad” sales ended up with it being unlawful to shop on this side of the border or your family were victimized by one of those scum. Come work for a week, I’ll show you some that would scare the shit out of you!

Nope

So whats the point of it? Just extra steps to get in an attempt to cut down on fake DLs?
All the "it's no big deal!" apologists say, "The government has all that information anyway, so why not give it to them?"

lolwhut

Yes, the government has all that information anyway. That's why you can show up at the TSA checkpoint with no ID at all, and still fly. They will put you through "enhanced screening", ask a ton of questions, and then verify that you are who you say you are by using their government databases.

So since they already have that information, why make you jump through the extra hoops and expense of providing it?

Answer: to get you accustomed to jumping through the extra hoops and expense and stop questioning why, because terrorism or safety or illegal immigrants or some other excuse.

Because IDs are easy to fake.

This rant sucks. Out of curiosity, have you looked into actually getting a Real ID? It's not like you have to get fingerprinted or sacrifice a goat. It's literally a birth certificate, which the government (at some level) has already had on file for you for the past several decades. It's all stuff they already know about you, put into a form that's harder to falsify. For a guy who seems to loathe illegals, you should be all in favor of gatekeeping official IDs.

I get it. I don't like the government either. But you're pretending like they have no idea who you are, and that's just you, lying to yourself. You want to reject Real ID, cool, go for it, but don't complain when you can't fly or go to the post office or whatever else they latch onto it. And starting a thread about it here is a ghey virtue-signal.
I haven’t listened to a teacher since 9th grade.

Well, I have a real ID DL, used to have mass LTC but let that unconstitutional BS expire when I left, and have a Global Entry ID. Will it make any difference if you have any of those or don't have any of them when the shit hits the fan? I doubt it. In other words a lot of normal people will be doing things to get by that won't set well with our overlords whether you have some card or not. While things are quasi civilized they can help me get stuff done and could potentially screen out illegals. As others have said they already have a crap load of data on most everyone.

I choose what "hoops" I'll jump through based on the return on the effort. There's a long list of hoops that I'll never jump through for the clowns that run .gov For instance, I'll never get a mass non resident LTC after having a resident version for a long time.

will not comply. they can shove their real id, vax, drug tests, public surveillance rats etc up their ass, sideways with boots on. i remember america when it was free. went around the world, traveled where i wished and not treated like a disease or criminal : did all that before 9-11. now happy to be retired: keep a good car and will drive domestically before ever flying again.
You so have no pride in being an American.

I do hope that is sarcasm. So, how would having a Real ID prevent shit like that from happening?

Jesus dude...Because if a Real ID is required to enter the country by a person who was here previously, and then deported, he would not have been able to re-enter the country again and set the woman on fire.

An illegal immigrant set an American woman on fire and she died, burned alive. on a NYC subway,

Donald suggested that any undocumented immigrant who killed a first responder should get the death penalty.
That needs to be expanded to read that any undocumented immigrant who kills any US citizen shall get the death penalty.

And when they have served their sentence? Catapult those bodies right over the southern wall.

There's a song (and an emotion) for that.

LISTEN!

So real ID is bad for some of you. Fine. Be like that.
So how does that LTC you cherish so much fit into the picture?
Real ID needs proof that your address is real along with a BC to some nitwit douche nozzle state employee. Nothing more than basic everyday bullshit right? However your LTC is interviewing, picture, fingerprints, background checks and it could be in front of a CLEO who hates you before you opened your vomit hole.

Talk about punching yourself in the dick over nothing. 😂 😂 😂

Edit: Up here you sign a release that approves a mental health check as well. No healthcare privacy allowed. Didn’t have such a thing in MA. Of course I do have the option of Constitutional Carry but that has drawbacks too.
Don’t even start on NFA stuff.
In addition to what you said, anyone who had to have a hazmat endorsement, twic card, cori check and so on.

I am truly a leave me alone type but, after having all of the above to earn a living there isn’t anything that they don’t already know about me.
Wtbs I still haven’t done it yet because I’d rather repeatedly punch myself in the balls than deal with some fat miserable bitch who’s going to act like doing her job is a request from me to live on her couch.

Eh.

As long as I'm able bodied theres a zero percent chance a plane I'm on is getting hijacked without turning into the 1992 Royal Rumble and I'm going in as Ric Flair. It aint happeneing.

While having good ID requirements is probably a good thing it should be extended to shit like voting but that's racist and the right can't figure out that all they need to do is offer free state ID's to people who can't get DL's for whatever reason.

Hey look, the TSA! You think they respect anything? I love being screened by retired old people and gangbangers.

The US government has turned EVERY FUGGIN THING THEY EVER TOUCHED into a complete f***ing nightmare. And airlines arent much better, either.
FTFY. 👍

Interesting. I won’t be able to get a REAL ID for another 6+ months, but I need to fly domestically before then. I’m a U.S. citizen by birth, but I only have a foreign passport, not a U.S. one. From what I’ve read, it seems like will be able to fly with my foreign passport

Don't expect it to make sense.

So during the pandemic when things were loosening a bit I had to renew my drivers license. I wanted to get the real ID.

Prior to the pandemic my oldest daughter got her DL and we were missing a document so the guy had me sign an affidavit verifying my daughters address.

Just had to show him my DL and she got real ID.

Now back to me…I only have the receipt of my original social security card as I do not have the actual card. My mother lost it over 45 years ago and I never replaced it. Somehow with just the receipt I was able to enlist in the Army.

Anyway, I brought a copy of my DD214, DL, cc statement, utility bill, LTC to the registry and they still denied me.

So wife has been on my ass to get the real ID so I called the SSA in Norwood today and set up an appointment to apply for a new card next week.

I asked what I would need to bring to prove who I am and you wanna know what she said?

Just bring a current drivers license.

The registry won’t accept their own effing ID but SS will.

How freaking stupid is this crap.

“Real” ID came about because the prior ID system of drivers licenses could not be relied upon due to corruption . Then the let the people who corrupted the drivers license system be in charge of the “real” ID system. What?

I had a Massachusetts issued real ID when I moved to Pennsylvania. When I told PA registry them I had a real ID from Massachusetts, they told me I had to start over. Screw that

I do have a passport card to use instead
I posted my personal experience with it a while back. The person behind the counter walked me through getting it, while not having the documents to get it when I walked into the building.

It's all a big fraud.

You can apply for a SS card online. I lost my original in a move and didn't realize it for a while. Took like 5 minutes and showed up a couple weeks later. You can also look at benefit statements going back for as long as you've paid into the system. My records went back to when I worked at 13 years old.

You just need to be setup with id.me...which some find more challenging than using the SS site itself, but I had to do it for something else anyway. Had to do an online appointment, show passport on laptop camera and a few other things. Probably why it was so easy when I requested the dupe.

They already know they're illegal and let them in anyway. How would another ID telling them they are still illegal change anything? Its an enforcement issue.

I laminated my original from way back. Applied for a new one really easy and it was in hand in a week or two.
NBD.
