I can't look at a gun pic without trying to figure out what it is and why it's setup like that. Instead of arguing how to read MA gun laws or how dangerous Putin's secret plan is, we should be learning what's working out there for the boots on the ground.

More (staged) pics of ukr navy seals in the thread below, so click the link. The tightly sealed individual in the 1st pic has a really interesting optics setup. Normally you see the rangefinder/wthatever-it-is-thing on the front. Anyone seen this before?

Looks like he/she is trying. Not sure why else you'd still have the mouthpiece in when you're standing in knee deep water.

Scuba gear is heavy, you can easily drown in waist deep water if you trip and can’t get to your reg and your bc isn’t inflated (hers does appear to be inflated). I may not have my regulator in my mouth but it’s at least in my hand when I’m either walking in or out of the water. Bc also fully inflated.

That said this screams photo op, for some reason I’d expect a tactical group to not use recreational style gauge/compass console, bright yellow octo, or padded webbing. I would expect wrist mounted computer and compass and standard webbing and crotch strap. I could be 100% wrong here however.

I wish I had a pic of the operator I saw at the Statue of Liberty this weekend.

He seemed to have the red dot first, then the magnifier. The RD looked like an Aimpoint, but I couldn't tell exactly from where I was and he was walking. Didnt look like a T2, it was longer, like their hunting red dots. I thought about asking him, but the last thing I need is someone with a hard on for action to use that as an excuse to call me a terrorist. Then I would have had to kick his a** and run away before his friends caught up with me.

You could go with the T-UNIT operator set up, all MONSTRUM.

I too build my gear around tactical night dives in the Charles river. Never know when the British will come again.

That's a Unity Mount with a HRF Skiff. Looks like a CompM5 with a PEQ-15 on those mounts. That gun is built for night work.
In the other staged pics someone else is holding this exact gun in a diff pose. It has a very distinct tape on the front of the handguard.

Is it definitely a female? I mean it looks like one, but Ukraine uses women for behind the lines stuff like this?

Possibly an Aimpoint PRO?

Next time ask him! We got your back bro!

What’s up with the magazine, the black stripe on it?!?!! On my phone I can’t get great detail but it kind of looks like the m&p15-22 magazines….

I think it's a Bren 2, maybe with the image flipped.
Sir, according to wikipedia Bren is an LMG:

EDIT: NM found it:

Every non- combat photo coming from that war is staged. The history used to be written by the winners. Now it is written by whoever has the best bots.

Oh, and it is my understanding that the Osnaz and Specnaz of both sides use loosely AK- based rifles (Vintorez and Val)… the ARs are generally for photo ops …

This guy was Irish, and this Bren looks oddly clean. The lower looks like plastic, but maybe that's just their finish on it.
