Did anyone take or know what the range test is for a RI LTC. I know you use the army L target. How many yards are you away from the target and how many rounds do you shoot. Thanks

25 yards, three strings of 10 rounds, 10 minute limit per string, 70% required to pass.

The Army L target is huge - if all you shots hit the outer edge of a 2ft diameter (approx) circle you'll pass. If you are fortunate enough to be approved, the permit will list the caliber you took the range test with as that is the upper limit of what you can carry.

I can give this test at Hopkinton ($10 donation to the club requested, but if you tell me you're broke, I'll do it for free), and it's also available from the staff at the American Firearms School.

I was at AFS this morning practicing. I still need more practice, I was using my sigma 40ve and I still have not mastered it yet. Where is the hopkinton range ?? Thats cheap for ten bucks.

It helps to actually READ the requirements before applying....

11-47-15 Proof of ability required for license or permit.

No person shall be issued a license or permit to carry a pistol or revolver concealed upon his or her person until he or she has presented certification as prescribed in § 11-47-16 that he or she has qualified with a pistol or revolver of a caliber equal to or larger than the one he or she intends to carry, that qualification to consist of firing a score of one hundred ninety-five (195) or better out of a possible score of three hundred (300) with thirty (30) consecutive rounds at a distance of twenty-five (25) yards on the army "L" target, firing "slow" fire. The "slow" fire course shall allow ten (10) minutes for the firing of each of three (3) ten (10) shot strings.
