Never said I was not going. My point was the same people go all the time. Dispite the large numbers of NES NRA GOAL GOA NAGR members the majority will blow it off or have an ezcuse not to attend, its reality. So ill see the same faces, maybe a few new. Sad but most dont give a sht about these gatherings but the fact is the more people the more impact. Just look at the Momsdemand crowd....they are kicking our asses
You would think our own would show up in #s. I can see if you got to choose and your $ is tight. I think its mostly APATHY, too bad too many key board commandos, my cold dead finger crap. Im still calling gun guys trying to convince.

AAARRRGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!! "Apathy" etc etc etc?????

This is one reason why I want to start a more "active", more "in your face" gun owner group/action committee/association, etc etc.
There are 350,000 plus gun owners in MA? How do I reach them? Most of the gun owners I know didn't realize / weren't aware of the BILL, let alone the rally Wednesday.
Example: Guy I know well, we talked the other day. I mentioned the rally, asked if he's going.

His reply: "Rally?"...
me: Yeah, against the DeLeo bill
him: Huh?
me: The DeLeo bill. Gun control. Restricting legal gun owners even further. The bill that was advanced last week.
him: Advanced where? Huh?

Our good friends at GOAL (I am a member and $upporter) are great, awesome human beings,, but they are overwhelmed at times, and, if you ask many members (and non members), they spend a lot of time on the "Turkey shoots" and "Clay shoots" etc. All wonderful events and activities, all family oriented gatherings, etc.

However, outside of this forum, and other than GOAL members or those of us in the hobby/business/field etc, GOAL, and their staff and members are seen by most Massachusetts citizens as "some gun group, a collection of middle aged bearded angry white guys, mean-spirited neanderthals who want to kill people (or animals blah blah blah)

The NRA? Sure, I did receive an obligatory "legislative alert" asking me to call my rep, and they sent an email to me, yet, by contrast, I received four (4) calls in the last two weeks asking for donations and attempts to sign me up for a subscription to something, or for a "legislative alert" about Harry Reid, etc, blah blah blah.

Again, all great, and I'm sure, worthy endeavors, but for the most part wr can all agree that they view Liberchusetts as being not worth the effort.

We need (need to start?) a group that will energetically, actively recruit and inform and attempt to contact ALL gun owners (and their friends and families) and get them to be more active, vocal etc. The reps and senators, when they're not working their next corrupt real estate deals (like the one up at Orient Heights East Boston, right Mistah Speakah??) have the media, a virulent anti-gun liberal media, at their beckon call. A "rep" can throw a soapbox on the steps of the Sate House and 5 media trucks, the Globe, the Herald etc will cover their "speech"..
What do we do/have that compares?

We also need to PAY a spokesperson - find one, and I mean NOW - who will be THAT PERSON who is the face and voice of gun owners in MA. I'd pay a monthly donation to a group (or increase my contribution to a GOAL or GOA-style group etc.) if it would bring me a Ben Affleck (I'm not naive enough to think someone of that status would, but play along here) or someone RECOGNIZABLE, well spoken, energetic, etc. who would be a "face" and voice for Massachusetts legal, law-abiding gun owners. Period.

Jim Wallace is a GREAT guy, but more Massachusetts residents can tell you who Mike Wallace, Rasheed Wallace, Marcia Wallace, Chris Wallace, George Wallace (comedian or politician, or were they one in the same?) etc etc than can tell you who Jim Wallace is...

(Huh? Jim Wallace? ...Yeah, the president of GOAL....Huh?....GOAL....Gun Owners Action League. Jim Wallace...Oh, you mean that angry, mean-spirited, middle-aged white guy with the beard that shoots turkeys and Bambi?" )

Charlton Heston was not the NRA spokesman because of his proficiency at turkey shoots or clay/skeet competitions. We need a "face" , and the involvement of a younger crowd of gun owners (and I know MANY who are just as angry and pissed off at the way the state is going), for this to all "change".

Because, as it stands now, in the famous State House "back rooms" - or "play rooms", depending on the night of the week and whether "State Rep. Cialis" can convince the wife and family that he has to work late, "meeting" with a constituent, like the 28 year old young-Julia-Roberts-resembling brunette HOTTIE, ain't that right Mr. "Honorable" State Rep _____ from _____ (I'll omit the name and district cuz it's FATHER'S DAY, right Mister Representative??? Whaddya say, Mr. Rep? A real "goer" eh? Wink of the eye, nudge-nudge, say no more" )..

When it comes to issues on guns, these Pols weigh the costs and the publicity and weigh it against THEIR jobs and careers. Maybe ONE PERCENT of them can actually be trusted to stand up and do what's RIGHT, do what they PROMISED TO DO, and vote with conviction and clear conscience in the manner that their core constituents want and elected them to do in the first place (YES, REP ROSS, RICHARD "DICK" ROSS, I AM THINKING OF YOU WHEN I TYPE THIS).

How much would it cost for a 30 second spot on all the local stations, a rebuttal to the Anti's and liberal WINGNUTS in this state, by our "spokesperson", say a Ray Bourque/Donnie Wahlberg/Lenny Clarke etc etc (again, I only toss these out as an example, I have zero clue as to their political leanings or gun/anti-gun feelings etc, just making a point here... )

Do you think for one second that if I had Bloomberg's money I couldn't go to the angry (understandably, if I lost my kid I'd be the same) father of a victim of the California shooting, who is the latest darling of the BloomTurd Anti's, and $it with him and "convince" him to $ee thing$ our way and do a commercial in $upport of the "Good guy with a gun who might have save my son!!!"

For enough $$ you could buy an Anti like Rosie O'Donnell and get her to do a 30 second spot performing fellatio on Wayne LaPierre and/or the entire board of directors at the NRA (yes, that'd undoubtedly be a first for her, in more ways than one, but, well, y'know.. )

And for more $$ she'd sell her "Rubenesque" soul, and do a "group money shot" session performance on GOAL members at the rally Wednesday on the Common. (Wouldn't be the first act of public lewdness on Boston Common and surely won't be the last!!!)

Every man has his price. And whatever the price, I'm in for a monthly direct deposit from my paycheck. Cuz right now, at 730am Sunday, there is some ELECTED REP SCUMBALL offering to wipe DeLeo's bum-bum now that BOBBY FROM EAST BOSTON (and NOT Winthrop) spent 30 minutes (and 12 pounds) sh*tting out his five-course breakfast and is sitting down to plan his next chess move against LAW ABIDING, LEGAL GUN OWNING CITIZENS of the CommonPuke of LiberChusetts.

The alternative to all this (listed here in my Sunday morning rant)?

The alternative is to "quit", to willingly give up our CONSTITUTIONALLY GRANTED RIGHT, and let a disgusting piece of liberal human excrement like DeLeo (Naughton, etc!) simply TRAMPLE you.

FIGHT THESE AS*HOLES WITH THEIR OWN DIRTY TRICKS IF NECESSARY, DAMMIT!!!!

Who's with me?
Anyone???

Also, some good info was brought up in these threads, and some great speakers at these past rallies, who we could maybe use again. No need to reinvent the wheel. Read on:

@glockjock

Im with you. Ive been saying this for years. Jim is a nice guy, works quite hard but we need someone whos out in front of people and addresses the Pols constantly. Id give up the money I spend on the NRA GOA NAGR and thebother groups I support to so this. Its a tough one to reach out to all the gun owners, not sure if the NRA will help on a more frequent basis but I will bring it up to them.

I also think we need to hold each other accountable. If you are not willing to help then dont bitch and complain. Also at one of the clubs I beling to I call people out all the time. Ive had several people say they were going to the statehouse for the hearing, told them I wasnt able to go. Well I went to see if they showed, and they did not. Then had the balls tonsay they did. FUDDS to me are worse than the damn MoMs....

That said let me know if you or anyone on the board knows how to get going on what your suggesting and let's do it.

I'll -respectfully - disagree with you on all that. I think it IS time to "reinvent", cuz this "wheel" is flat, busted ball joint, whatever...the way gun owners have been treated and maligned and we still have the same "speakers"....

We've had the "rallies" and the "gatherings" and the "meetings" and the "confabs" and the "hearings"..How's that asll worked out for us, from 1998 to today??

All that stuff is great, but as I said we don't need the SAME speakers..we need the same speakers PLUS a go to, a "face"of all gun owners. We need an organiztion that does NOT have the "same" speakers as we've had...We need the same speakers, but we need new and MORE speakers, and an organization that is more proactive and more, well, just more "active".

Comm2A is awesome, yet they are like the "legal wing" of our interests. Go back to my original post on this (Post # 62, above) and please re-read it carefully. Please. [wink]

All I can say is I never heard the folks who spoke in Brookfield speak before then or since then. I also like June4's speeches, the two I heard at least.

I think those could be done again and again; before differing and new audiences.

Good luck with your new ideas, and let us know how we can help.

Oh, and for the record, most people will agree the Constitution doesn't "grant rights", but rather is supposed to protect ones you already have.

I'll be at the Rally.

If anyone else has Jennifer Benson as a Rep. (37th Middlesex) and wants to meet up to try to talk with her let me know. Same goes for Senator Jamie Eldridge.

BUS FROM WESTFORD

Westford Pro 2A has been offered a bus to take our members to the GOAL Rally at the Statehouse on Wednesday, 6/18/2014. The details are to be worked out.

We can only secure this bus if we have at least 15 people committed. So far we have 5 and we can take 30 max, first come first serve. We would leave from somewhere in the "Greater Westford Area".

If you are interested please reply to [email protected] to reverse your spot.

We need to know by Monday morning.

Thank you.

There are currently 7 people signed up for the bus. We need a few more!

The bus will be leaving from Westford or possibly Littleton.

email [email protected] immediately if you are interested and can definitely make it. A final decision needs to be sent to the bus charter by noon.

Jeff, I'm going to try to get out of a meeting that I cancelled once already. It all depends on the reaction of the other parties involved. I have to feel them out.

Can I just show up on Wednesday with the knowledge that if the bus is at capacity, I'm out of luck. Please post if you are full.

Thanks!

I'm not actually the one running this.... you could email [email protected] and ask, but I suspect if you were there before the bus left you would not be turned away if there is still room.

The NRA just sent out an email alert plugging the GOAL rally. Better late than never I guess.

Did Four Seasons send anything out? When I was riding the train back from the last rally I was talking to one guy who said he heard about from Four Seasons.

As far as I know none of the major players in the state, including FS and certain large firearms schools have sent nothing out about this rally. They have huge mailing lists and have managed to hit me about every "sale" they run, but they're mute on this. It would seem to me that these places that boast distribution lists of 30k+ have a financial stake in helping to get the word out, and yet they somehow seem to be sitting on the sideline. Very disappointed. Do they benefit from silence? Between this and lack of support from gun clubs, it's a wonder we're even allowed to own firearms at all. Last week my club president said he'd get something out to membership - nothing.

Will be there on Wednesday.

All the more reason to take your business elsewhere. I left a club because of their attitude of not doing anything and would have no problem shopping somewhere else either. Anyone send a note to FS?
