Quick trick I use to check my brass heads and necks before reloading

That's pretty good. I tend to do that quickly when I am handling them to sort out the head stamps that I don't like.
Typically, by the time they get to my press, I have handled each one a few times anyways, and almost always find the defects, including:
  • Blown heads
  • Glocked brass
  • mouth dents that won't work out
  • stone dents
  • splits on sides or case mouths
  • high primers (usually bad primer pockets)
  • disfunctional brand names, which I avoid
