I'm also guessing that the fact that.
1) license was always current
2) registration was always current
3) insurance was always current
4) Car was in good shape with no obvious flaws.
5) I was polite and professional when interacting on the side of the road with the cop. (Plan is to eviscerate them in court. Which happened more than once. But always polite on the side of the road, where the cop has ALL the power)

helped with this situation.
 
When citations are written, some cops write notes on the back. The more you deviate from the recommendations in post #31, the more likely the notes will be replete with unflattering innuendo, and later referred to in court.
