Can someone tell me why Glock 26 mags are made differently? I know the 2 notches are for the ambidextrous mag release, but why does the steel show on some and not on others? (Mag on right does not show the metal). also why the cutout showing the steel above the 2 mag release cutouts? (the mags on the left and center).
I also had another mag that a member just bought from me and it had a different follower than the other 5 mags I have. All the mags work fine in my Gen 3 26.

My curiosity gets to me. LOL

The exposed metal in the front center was for the G21 SF.

Glock only made the G21 SF with such an ambitious release- although the exposed metal was also cut into 9mm mags as well.

That ambi release never took off after the G21 SF.

In fact is was discontinued do to that sort of ambi in the G21 SF accidentally releasing mags from cops who wear seatbelts.

When the Gen 4's came out, they were a reversible ambi. You could have it on the right or left side but not both.

The gen 4 compatible mags have a notch on the left AND the right side.

The gen 4's ALSO have the exposed metal in the front center.
