So, today at the Club I met a new shooter, who had reached out to me for some help with Trap.
Cool. That's my thing.
Had to gently remind them that they needed to have the action open (O/U) when carrying it about. Not a biggie.
Went over choke tube selection. No problem.
"Do you need ammo?" Quoth I
"No, I got some at Big Box Sporting Goods."
"OK, let me take a peek." 3 1/2 inch BB loads. At least they were steel (required at my Club)
I explained that it was the wrong size shot for the Trap range, but more importantly, 3 1/2" shells were a bad idea in a 3-inch chambered gun.
They had no clue that this was a "thing," and had relied upon the knowledge of the sales person at the store.
Bottom line is that new shooters may be clueless, and may have got their info from a person that was in the footwear department the previous shift.
Anyone else have informative stories, such as this?
