I'm currently looking for a new primary care physician and I would like to find one that when he asks if there are any guns in the home it's because he wants to chat and not report me.

I'm 26 and just looking for check ups and what not, so don't quite need a specialist....also somewhat local to Somerville would be great.....thanks guys.

You don't have to tell the doc if there are guns in the house.

-Proud to be dad every day, a licensed plumber most days, and wish I was a shoemaker on others.

the only thing my doc has about guns is the paperwork you have to fill out when you walk in, it just asks if there are children AND guns in the house... dont know how I will respond after my kid is born though... not answering it is the same as saying yes and answering no may be a problem if it ends up comeing up in conversation later....

then again this is the same doc who complains that i only wear my seat belt 90%+ of the time... when i am working and dont close the door to drive 100ft up the road i dont put my belt on... and she responds that I should ALWAYS wear it....

My doctor once called me from Bass Pro to ask for info on a few guns. :D

He's not taking any new patients at this time though.

Just had a physical, and the only question about guns that was asked was: "The safety is on, right?" when he saw the hammer back on my 1911, while it was peeking out of my pile of folded clothes. I think he's taking patients, but depending on where you are, it may be a bit of a trip....

I give them the same generic response. " I have a bow and a shotgun for turkey hunting, what do you think this mark is on my left testicle? " usually moves the convo along, however I tried that line with a nurse and it didnt go over as well, then again I was in the lobby. :)

Sounds like the OP just wants to do business with a pro 2A doctor. Probably not the first thing to consider when choosing a physician, but to each his own.
