I reloaded my first batch of .223 remington for my AR 15 today. Using the Lyman reload data and started with the suggested starting grains of Varget (25.0) After firing the cartridge, a few of the primers looked like the firing pin punched a hole through it. Has anyone had experience with this? I am using Winchester small rifle primers and all data has been adhered to in the manual. Any help would be much appreciated.

More information is needed. What bullet weight? Did you crimp the ammo? Are they for plinking ammo or match shooting? If plinking, don't waste the time spent waiting for Varget to dump from the measure.

thanks for the post GTO shooter, that was some informative reading. I think I may reconsider my primer selection.

Don't bother crimping jacketed bullets. If your neck tension isn't sufficient, a little crimp won't help.
