I am aware that an AR-15 must have been "assembled in assault weapon configuration" on the day of the ban in order to be grandfathered.
However, what if you can't prove it had an upper receiver on it on that day? But instead, you can only prove it had a collapsible stock, a lower parts kit and a pistol grip? My understanding is that this would be an assault weapon, even without an upper, by virtue of the pistol grip + collapsible stock + assembled parts kit.
What say you?
