I use mostly Hodgdon's HP -38 for .45ACP.......

Yup. The right answer is “whichever appropriate powder you can get your hands on”. I definitely fall into a rut and just crank out my go-to loads, but it’s fun to work up some new ones every now and then (and hopefully not out of necessity!)

Short answer, anything you can find. In addition to the above, Red Dot, Green Dot, Unique and 700X are old favorites. Some guys complain that 700X doesn't flow well through powder measures, but I've used it for years in .45 and .38 light loads with no problems.
