DJ’s gun permit revoked over controversial social media posts

Kashawn Harris, 30, said the Springfield Police Department revoked his license to carry firearms after he posted vintage pictures of armed Black Panthers. The permit was reinstated after a mayoral aide lobbied the department on his behalf.

SPRINGFIELD — Controversial social media posts have not only cost some people their jobs in a racially charged climate, they may also threaten licenses to carry a gun.

At least in the case of city resident Kashawn Harris, whose license to carry was revoked by the Springfield Police Department after he posted to his Facebook page last month vintage photos of armed Black Panthers and calls for demonstrations at City Hall.
