In order to get full suppression you need to get 5.56 under the speed of sound (1,100 fps) or you will hear the sonic boom when the bullet breaks the sound barrier (the "crack" of the shot). At 1,100 fps a 5.56 round is basically a subsonic .22.

You disagree with this?

That really depends on what 5.56 your firing. You can slow it down by decreasing powder OR by using a heavier bullet. A 77gr 5.56 traveling at the same speed as a standard 36gr 22lr is going to have just over double the impact energy of the 22lr.

As for the OP's question. I'm another vote for the 300blk.

Well we were talking about M193 so...

How about a 7.5" out of a 5.56 just because it's fun to shoot? If I ever need something for real I have a m4gery (figured if the .mil spent that much on design then it's prob good enough for anything I will need)
