A use of force investigation is underway after a 48-year-old man was killed in an exchange of gunfire with police in Springfield early Saturday, according to authorities.

Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni and members of his office will investigate the use of force in the fatal police shooting of the man, who authorities have yet to publicly identify, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

Members of the Massachusetts State Police Gaming Enforcement Unit and members of the Springfield Police Department assigned to the same unit responded around 2 a.m. to reports of the man allegedly acting aggressively toward others and possibly being armed with a gun inside MGM Springfield, according to the statement. Investigators tried to find the man as he left the casino in the direction of Main and Union streets.

Surprised the mob didn't take care of it. Guess they are getting soft and calling the popo now. What would the old school guys think of this?

Encore in Everett uses a technology that detects firearms without using metal detectors etc. From what I gather the technology detects the outline of the barrel of the firearm which triggers a secondary screening .

The real question we should be asking ourselves is this, why would anyone put a casino in a s**t hole like Springfield?

That's part of their sales pitch. We'll come in here and turn this delapidated city around. It's all about the dollars.
