"Police proud of their bust" megathread

It's not clear to me why police were legally allowed to detain a 9yo who was committing no crime. If you're a cop and show up to a disturbed child who is not an immediate threat to anyone at arrival the call shouod be over and there should be other people to deal with cases like this.

What if the reason for the child's actions is abuse? As the cop you've now permanently destroyed that child's psyche for life. "My parents hurt me and I can't make it stop, then the government showed up and hurt me more, then sent me back to my parents."

One possible circumstance where the officers actions will quite literally destroy a life.

Did you wend your way to any badge cam footage?
I found this,
which is on the longer side of all the dozens of excerpts on YoutUbe alone:

It's like a freight train of burning dumpsters.

About the only saving grace was that it was too cold
for a crowd to gather. And it's probably too cold
to gut the city with a touch of the old BLM RiotLootBurn.

One of the key phrases you hear again and again
is, "you need to tell that officer what you said(?)".
Which may be an allusion to the suicide threat.
(Or may be evidence of some (violent) crime within the household).

I'm sure it's bad form to bring a detained minor
into the ER with a helping of hypothermia,
let alone even an eyelash of frostbite.

But at this point, with multiple cops suspended
they can't possibly still think they were smart
to obsess on getting the girl stuffed in the car
like there was a kitchen timer about to go off.

The woman was trying to whip things up aganst the cops,
but no one was gathering to mob up.
The cops were probably nervous that time was not on their side,
but in retrospect they may have been dancing to adrenaline
telling them to rush the situation to keep things "under control".

You know who I really don't envy?
  1. The next cop who catches a domestic call from this messed-up family.
  2. Whatever member of this messed-up family needs police help for a domestic disturbance.
Every cop in the entire city is going to be inhibited,
because of the risk the situation will go pear-shaped again
and they'll get suspended, sued, fired, prosecuted...
At the very least, any future response is going to be 100% by the book,
painfully so.

Sigh.

Holy sweet Jesus. I hadn't seen the whole thing. What a shit show.

If I was that cop, I would have removed the woman and kept the child separate as soon as stabbing was brought up. Letting them argue was counter productive to the whole situation. It actually seemed right as the kid and cop were standing still at beginning together that she was going to start talking and opening up.

Its not clear to me why they put the girl in the car instead of the mother and just walked the kid back to the house and pull the father aside and talk to him.

So much fail everywhere here.

And note that's just one badge cam (although perhaps the most crucial).

There's too much in it for me to properly decode on my own.
And the wind blows all over the compass -
one minute I'm thinking one thing,
the next minute things change.

It really sucks to be living in a time when you can never take
the cops' narrative at face value.

I do remember one time some years ago I took my Marlin 60 to MFS and filled the tube up with 15 rounds. Fudd next lane was counting my shots and confronted me after I was empty asking me how could I possibly have more than ten without stopping to reload. The second amendment in MA only goes up to 10.

You should have looked at him quizzically and said that you don't understand, you only fired 6 times and he probably should see a doctor.
