Never heard of that.

Of course letting the first shot happen may be the most painful if you are at the wrong end.

Assuming you were out of the way- it would mess up the gunmans OODA loop. (Observe Orient Decide Act)

He may not even know what to do next unless he has trained for malfunctions.
