A freinds father had this for years, a tree had grown around it. You can not read any information, looks like it may be a Remingon. Thanks for the help.

I would have to Agree with you... It looks like a Sharps shooter.....Is there anything on the Butt stock? R there any marks or symbols?

It looks like Remington, Ilion, NY. Hepburn pat. Oct 7 1899. My kid is looking he has better eyes. Any other information would be appreciated.

It's a Remington-Hepburn No.3. The buttplate looks like it's from a Match Rifle. Info from "Flayderman's Guide To Antique American Firearms" 9th edition. Among other things it is missing the forend and rear sight.
