Just for fun thought...pair up a rifle and handgun that "work" together, for any reason.

Examples to get started:

* 10/22 and 22/45 (Rugers, both shoot .22lr)
* M1 Garand and 1911A1 (historical WWII)
.
.
.

Keltec Sub2000 with Glock 17, or Beretta 92FS (depending on which handgun you prefer). The cool thing about this setup is that not only do you get to use the same ammo for both, but they share the same mags as well.[wink] I have the Sub2k that uses the Beretta mags, and plan to pick up a 92FS for just this reason.

i own a :

Thompson gun ( semi ) & a 1911

S&W model 29 & 44 mag Winchester trapper 1894

Ruger 22/45 & ( other ) 1911

M1 Carbine & Ruger 10/22 with "appleseed" Tech sights

AR15 & AK47 (wasr-10) - " get both "

Smith 686 and Henry lever rifle in .357

Jennings J22 and Mossberg Tactical 22

Barett m99 and Waffentechnik .50 BMG pistol.

AR and P229. Real professional.

AK and G17. Real rugged.

MP5 and USP. Wirklich Deutsch.

Mac 10 & hi-point with homey sights. Wicked gangster.

1873 Colt in .45Colt and 1873 Springfield in .45/70 or 1928 Thompson smg and 1911. I can clean all the brass at the same time.

Beretta 92FS and a Beretta CX4 storm both in 9mm both take the same magazine. I installed a couple of parts from Brownells so magazines are interchangeable.

Ruger mark III and a 10/22
beretta 92fs and remington 700
glock 17 and ar-15
glock 21 and ar-10
TAC-50 and BG380 (yeah, i said it!)
m14 and 1911
win 32-40 and HK USP (meh, why not)

You've overlooked the oldest such combination known.

The Colt 1873 Peacemaker in .45LC and a Winchester Model 92 in same.

Winchester never chambered their rifles or carbines in .45 Colt. That is a modern invention of the Cowboy Action Shooting craze.
The first company to chamber their pistols in a rifle caliber was Remington and that was in .44 WCF now known as .44-40. Colt did not follow suit till 1879. Therefore the oldest known comanation would be Remington/Winchester.

To answer the topic AR 15/ Remington 1911 because that is what I own and it works for me.
