****For Immediate Release****

Subject: Arrest of Shooting Suspect

Authored By: Lieutenant Gary Traversa

Authorized By: Chief Michael Wynn

Released At: 20 March 2017 6:24 PM

Today, March 20, 2017 at 12:36 PM, Pittsfield Police Dispatch received a call reporting a Disturbance at a residence on Danforth Avenue in Pittsfield. A subsequent call reported gunfire. Responding units encountered an adult male, with a gunshot wound to his hand. Pittsfield Police Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators also responded.

Patrol Officers and Detectives worked to identify a suspect. As the investigation developed, a juvenile male suspect, also a Taconic High School student was identified. A Pittsfield Police Officer stationed at Taconic confirmed that the suspect had been present at school earlier in the day, before leaving without authorization. As information was being gathered and confirmed by Patrol Officers, Detectives, Investigators, and School Staff, the student returned to Taconic High School. He was taken into custody by Pittsfield Police shortly thereafter.

Charges include:

1. Possession of a Firearm without an FID card
2. Possession of Ammunition without an FID card
3. Discharge of a Firearm within 500 feet of a Building
4. Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (to wit handgun)
5. Armed Robbery (Firearm)
6. Carrying a Firearm on School Grounds
7. Escape from a Municipal Lockup (Attempt)

The juvenile Defendant will be arraigned tomorrow, March 21, 2017 in Central Berkshire Juvenile Court.

1. Possession of a Firearm without an FID card
2. Possession of Ammunition without an FID card

Why isn't this charge "Possession without an LTC," because, as we all know, an FID wouldn't be sufficient for a handgun, regardless.

Because he's under 21 and is not eligible for an LTC?? As stupid as that is it's probably somewhat accurate.
