PITTSBURGH Gun Rights Advocates Threaten Legal Action Over ‘No Firearms’ Sign

Well that explains why I had two friends from high school call me about 5 times each this afternoon. This won't stand. The state legislature will slap it down just like they did the last time.

I love signs. They make great targets. This one is no different.

Funny thing is, according to the folks here (I am at the office in the Pittsburgh area) the city council and mayor can face criminal charges for their adoption of this local law.

This is absolutely true. There is provision for criminal charges in the state preemption law, however this part has never been used in the instances where the legislature and courts have slapped down this type of bullshit.

Weak.

Steal the sandwich-board signs and throw them out,
or render them unusable and fling them someplace visible but inaccessible.

(Example: drop them from a tall building onto the top of a sidewalk tree).

No, those signs are different.
Signs in front of City Hall are going to be visible on security cameras.

Swanning about at your local range with stolen property
is a good way to get jacked up when some fudd dimes you out.
"Stolen gun-free zone signs found at local gun club;
thief under arrest" is an easy headline.

You have to swipe them at night, ideally during a downpour,
leaving no identifying information on videotape
,
and get rid of them ASAP.

WTF does a "legislature" have to do with enforcing a preemption law?

Luckily my ‘local gun range’ is on my own private property!
