I happened across this one and couldn't say no. That's been happening a lot lately. you all probably see i have pieces for sale as i sort through this.
Anyway, this is a Bolt Mismatch. it is fully matching except the bolt. the bolt matches perfectly to itself. many soldiers bringing back their trophies had to take the bolt out when they boarded the ship. Bolts were in a barrel and on their way off, they grabbed one and put it their souvenir. Thus Bolt MM. It's got a little beaver bite out behind the sites but excellent shape otherwise for a 77 year old rifle
This is a CE 1942 (Sauer) not import marked (obviously) and a sexy rifle. Bore is great and a great add to the collection. Enjoy

Nice, I shot my Sauer CE 1941 this week, and I have a Suhl-made (Ernst Thalmann, merger) Makarov.

Great looking rifle.

Now you need a cleaning rod and a sling.:) '42 is a nice scarce year. In their arrogance, the Germans had dialed back K98 production in late '41 thinking they had won the war....oops....and it took time to get things going again.

We can set a play date with my '39/147. 40caliber can vouch for it's accuracy.

-d is the block of 9,999 (<43), or 99,999 (>43). Most were script from all manufacturer's. Would need to see the WaA on the bolt root; e/37 is Sauer....mine is matched.

yup his sauer is on target!
i am taking the sling off the 41 norge, and putting an F1 (norwegian) sling on it. It was the cheapest way out
I guess i got to reach out to that guy with the bottomless parts bin for a cleaning rod.

Very nice find. Im a little jealous as i am looking for my second mauser to add to my collection. How much was this pretty rifle?

Love the rifles, one of these days I'll get around to owning the K98k variants. I have a Gew98 (updated beyond the Lange Vizier sights) & the M96 for full size and love those but the short rifles always looked better in my mind. One of these days I'll try to poke spud with some questions (I've definitely done enough reading) and get into them.
