OK, I mentioned it in another thread, but there are 170 GOAL affiliated clubs in MA.

If just 17 of us were to volunteer to call the leadership of these clubs that would only be 10 calls each.

We need a get out the vote effort!! Will you do it?

I just can't bear the thought of waking up one day in November and finding out Martha Coakly is my new AG. If I don't do everything I can do to prevent that I won't be able to forgive myself!!

If you are willing, PM me and I'll send you 10 clubs to call.

The converstation should go something like this:

Hi my name is ________,

I'm an active shooter and sportsman in Massachusetts and I'm calling ask if you've heard about Larry Frisoli, candidate for AG?

Larry is a very pro gun and pro sportsman candidate. He's been endorsed by GOAL and the NRA. He's tough on crime, with an emphasis on protecting our kids from sexual predators.

I'm hoping that you'll consider mobilizing your gun club to support Larry. If we don't get out the vote for Larry we'll end up with Martha Coakley as AG, which will be very bad for gun owners and sportsmen.

Can I send you some information by email? postal mail? etc.

Will you commit to informing your membership about this race and the importance of thier vote this November?

Thanks for your time.

Matt

Before you do this, let me suggest a couple things:

1. I, for one, HATE these cold calls even from someone I may support. I find them annoying and a little too scripted.

2. If we take a poll, we may have members of each of the clubs right here on this Forum. I have contacted three clubs already.

4. If those that shoot competition of any sort travel club to club, bring literature with you. I shot in NH a couple wekks ago and gave out all I had to anyone with a MA license plate. (Unfortunately I have not been restocked)

Just a suggestion.

Sent an email to the club (much more informal wording, but asking if the endorsed candidates, telling about Larry Frisoli), haven't heard back though.

I agree on all points... but still... are you going to sleep well on election night?

We're talking sportsman to sportsman here, not some mindless paid worker in a commercial phone bank.

Regarding #4 (was there a #3?), This is a spectacular idea and I encourage it whole heartedly. I've been doing the same sort of thing. There is a 2 sided pdf you can print off in the "today I did _______ for LF" thread. This includes the letter from Larry that appeared in the GOAL newsletter.

The Frisoli Campaign has a small brochure that they will give you to hand out to people. Go to their HQ in Cambridge and get a bunch for the clubs if you can.

Also, consider recruiting a person per club to pass the word. Don't feel like you have to talk to every sportsman personaly. Each club Pres. or whoever should be able to contact their memeber more efficiently, either by email or at club meetings. I know not all clubs are set up to comunicate well, but a brochure next to the sign in sheet will go a long way.

1. I will sleep fine. Knowing I worked harder for the election than the candidate did will cause me to rest easy.

2. We are talking about solicitation here whether it is sportsman to sportsman or not, it is annoying.

3. was this: I have worked for this candidate since July and still get little or no response for materials. It is embarrassing to me to support someone who has a half assed campaign. I still support him but he is not supporting himself. It causes a severe lack of credibility as a candidate and as someone who will follow through when elected. As much as I hate to admit it, Len has said it from the beginning. I won't repeat it again.

As far as going to Cambridge to pick up material, fat chance. I have a business to run and have no desire to drive to Boston, Cambridge, or any where near the area.

Cold calling is not what I call a good idea. Having a member stand at a meeting under the meeting section "For the Good of The Club" and giving a short plug for Larry will work much better. Were you to call me and start off with " Hi my name is ______ and" the next thing you would hear is "CLICK"

Regards,

That's exactly the sense I've been getting.

Danvers Fish & Game ( my club ) is way ahead of you. Big signs , but all it needs to convince us is the : (R) next to his name.

We should be looking for the undecided independants ... Charter Schools for example , perhaps churches , even martial art gyms ( 2nd A is a self defense issue for some )

My personal plan is to find 3 undecided aquaintences - those kind of people who don't usually even bother - enlighten them and "nudge" them to the polls. Thereby giving me a legal quadruple voice/vote.

I was told by the president of the Hanson Rod & Gun Club that I could put literature on the counter but they couldn't endorse any candidates - it may damage their non-profit status. So, I put brochures on the counter on Saturday. Couldn't go for breakfast there today to do any talking, but I will next Sunday.

And I agree, trying to get the word out without any kind of formal machine is tough. I work in Middleboro and can't possibly get up to Boston to pick anything up. Someone had signs in Brockton - are any still available?
