It's far more likely that this is one of those " you know you're over the target when you start taking flak" type of situations.
If Hegseth has strongly been advising Trump against war with Iran, then I find it far more likely that this is a setup job by the usual suspects to take him out

Macgregor offers up a different opinion in what's going on here , and points out that Hegseth had stated before that he's a " Christian Zionist" .
So maybe Hegseth is getting the shit kicked out of him because he had stated support for Israel previously , and then when it came time to deliver .....he didn't ...according to Macgregor, on the advice of some of the people under him.
