"Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday offered advice to illegal immigrants seeking to avoid arrest and deportation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.

“An ICE deportation warrant is not the same as a search warrant. If that is the only document ICE brings to a home raid, agents do not have the legal right to enter a home. If ICE agents don’t have a warrant signed by a judge, a person may refuse to open the door and let them in,” said Pelosi, reading from prepared remarks at her weekly press conference.

Pelosi’s comments come as ICE plans to begin raids in ten major cities Sunday targeting 2,000 illegal immigrants who have ignored deportation orders."

If you have ignored deportation orders aren't you subject to arrest????
Maybe I'm wrong. Wont be the first time.

    I second that.

Luckily illegals aren’t exactly tapped into congressional press conferences.

Yes, but unless it's a subsequent removal it's a misdemeanor charge for the most part. If it's a second removal, it's a felony. I've been on some warrant arrests, person tries to close the door and gets a rude awakening.

The fact that the raids were announced ahead of time indicates to me that it's all pomp and circumstance and more for PR than actual benefit anyway.

You don't bang a drum in search of a fugitive.

How is announcing upcoming raids, or telling people how to resist, by an elected official, different from cheering on the enemy against our military?

Police coming to your home generally go one of two ways.

"Can you step out on to the porch and talk with us?" They want to arrest you but have no warrant. Think 'Cambridge Beer Summit'.

"What are you doing in my living room? My hands are up and I'm not resisting!" They have a warrant, maybe.

Even a locked screen door, in good repair, can eventually help/save you in the event they do not have a warrant. IANAL.

It isn't. Got to keep the future democrat voters in the country to build up the fraudulent votes. Jack.

While I find her actions not much different from a lawyer giving advice on how to handle the police, this pales in comparison to her and other democrat pieces of shit declaring their cities
sanctuary cities in clear violation of our immigration laws and procedures!

She is one small step away from a major stroke, and the sooner it happens the better for all of us!

    Principles are for nerds.

Right wingers losing their shit at the suggestion that someone not open their door to LE without a proper warrant. This is good advice for everyone, citizen or not. Don't talk to the cops, don't consent to searches.

She's not acting in the capacity as a lawyer. I have a lawyer friend, I called him for some advice. As soon as my 'issue' came out, he invoked lawyer/client privilege. I chuckled, but got what he was doing. It wasn't even 'me' that was the issue, before someone starts name calling.

Pelosi is a public servant, yes I said it with a linear (definitely not straight, that would be assuming it's orientation) face. In her capacity as a public servant, she should be acting for the betterment of our society and the rule of law. She is actively working against both principles.

You don't own the house. Every house and lot of land is owned by the town/city. You just pay rent (Real estate taxes) to live there. Jack.

There have been court cases, NES threads and articles on this. If you search for 'curtilage' on the web and here on NES you will see the confusion. It seems to mean something different when it comes to self defense and how it applies to the police/authorities and warrants.

Is your trash still yours? There was a case where police dressed as utility workers to get over the curtilage issue. I wish I was more eloquent but the law sucks and IANAL. Good luck.

This is all bullshit on both sides. Announced raids? Pandering to the right. Pelosi et als telling illegals their rights? Pandering to the left. Nancy didn’t do anything illegal. She’s telling people what their rights are in the situation. As many pointed out it ain’t anywhere NEAR as simple as Pelosi makes it sound. I’m still pretty shocked that the left has picked this as the hill they want to die on. They’re trying desperately to find a new special interest with broad appeal to ‘save’ like gays last decade but no matter how hard they flog it, illegals ain’t it - which is why they continue to conflate illegal immigrants with legal immigrants. It’s not working.
